  1. Well Done!!!
  2. This is a pattern by Neptun from our pattern library. 1/8" oak ply, stack cut with 2/0 FD spiral blades. Sorry about the photo quality. Some dummy forgot to take the picture BEFORE the glass was in the frame, so thats my reflection you see. Enjoy it folks, because its the only pix you will ever see of me. Jim
  3. We are our worst critics! The project I use for my avatar has more oops's in it than I can count - after a couple of days I can't even find them. Like everyone above says it looks great as it is.
  4. The doves on the sides are the most delicate parts. Needed to be real careful with them. Jim
  5. A young friend of the family, who is in the Army, is getting married soon. This is a Steve Good pattern. 3/4" oak with a walnut base finished in 50/50 BLO. FD-UR-#3 blade used. Jim
  6. This is a Steve Good pattern I pulled into Inkscape and changed the 2nd line of words. It is my first time cutting cedar and really like it. To make it easier (because I am lazy ), I enlarged it a bunch from the original size, which made it a little to fragile. There is a crack on one of the letters at the top, but with a little effort I was able to fix it so it is almost undetectable.
  7. Hi Don, This may be a dumb question but do Type 1 or Type 2 Dewalts use the same part numbers? I have a pretty old type 1 and want it to live a long life. Thanks.
  8. I don't have a router - yet but agree, by the time you but a Dremel and their router table you are pretty close to the cost of a full size router. Does anyone use a trim router for their projects like round over on bases? Jim
  9. Well Done!! Great job with a great pattern. I don't buy many patterns but would buy any and all of Jeff Z patterns I could find.
  10. Home Depot cuts my 4 x 8 sheets so that I wind up with 3 pieces 32" x 47" (2 cut at no charge). Since I don't have a truck, this size will fit in my car without any problem.
  11. A good friend of mine retired from the Air Force this year after 20 years. His family asked me to do a gift for him. I modified a pattern by Steve Good and added another piece with the name. Since he is a very private person I was asked to block out the name if I posted it anywhere on line. This one I am happy with and he really liked it too. Framed 11 x 14".
  12. Some of the experienced woodworkers here will have the answers to this. I am finding that a lot of my 1/2" and 1/4" solid wood is developing bow, twist and warp on my shelves. I don't keep a lot of stock and most of it is short pieces. I am considering a planer (Dewalt 745 maybe?) but understand that the minimum length that can be run through them is 12". Some brands are 15" minimums. If I have pieces that are less than that and are warped, I cannot bring myself to throw them in the burn barrel. Walnut, Zebrawood, and even oak come to mind. Am I missing something? Is there a better tool? Thanks in advance for your help. Jim
  13. Thanks everyone for the kind words. I did stack cut the 1/4" parts. The 1/2" backers were one at a time. And the wheels are already turning for next years plans.
  14. My son coaches the soccer team that my 8 year old grandson play on. The season is ending and he wanted to do a gift for each of the kids. Out of a couple patterns I showed him, he selected this one by Steve Good. He wanted them to be cheap and quick to make. They turned out to be not so quick - (although Kevin probably done them in no time! ) Anyway, they are all 1/4 or 1/8" oak ply that I donated to the project and we used cheap 1/2" ACX ply for the backers. The bases are solid oak that my son had sitting around. Names or numbers were not required, so I was asked to paint the backers - blue for the 7 boys, and pink for the 5 girls. (Gave him some grief about not being politically correct! ) Everyone like them, personally I thought they were just so-so.
  15. Sometimes the obvious solution is the best! I went to the local Ace hardware and showed them what I needed. They had exactly what I needed with larger ears for tightening. Attached are pix of both the old and new. And they cost me a whopping $4.40 each. And they work great!
  16. Love it! Keep us posted as you refine your process. I think a lot of us would like to try our hand at it too! I have often looked at stained glass as something I wanted to try. When you are ready, perhaps you could do a tutorial for the rest of us. I know I would be all over that! Thanks, again. Jim
  17. The senator from Wisconsin?? :)
  18. It's the mat. I had it custom made at Hobby Lobby and they cut the interior at a slight bevel to show the white inside of the mat. I like the effect, but can't take credit for it.
  19. This was ordered by my wifes sister. The mat color was her specification. Pattern by me. 1/8" oak ply, 11x14" frame.
  20. That should NOT happen! Maybe you can return it under warranty?
  21. There is only one known cure for Scrolling Addiction - go make more sawdust.
  22. Yep! you got a deal! Congrats.
  23. Well done!! Great cuts, especially with a #5. When I cut this pattern, I had used a #3 and the larger letters and a #1 in the small one and still it was an effort.
  24. Wish I could take credit for the frame, but my friend/customer provided it to me. I told her what size to get and she picked it out. I adjust the price accordingly. Thanks for the kind comments. Jim
  25. Here is what the pattern I just put in the "new pattern announcements" looks like. Its in an 11x14 frame and I used and modified a new-to-me front with the unlikely name of QumpellkaNo12.
