  5. Well done Mike! It looks very impressive! Jim
  6. Well done! Nice pattern and well cut! You should be proud.
  7. Rusty, I think I wore out my drill press. LOL
  8. Thanks for all the kind comments! Much appreciated, especially from the group here. Once you get some practice with spirals, the rest is just time and effort. Most of this pattern is kind of forgiving and the oop's I made (and they are there) are almost impossible to find - even if you know where to look. What I am saying is don't be afraid to try spirals or the "harder" patterns. Jim
  9. Marg - It is in an 11 inch by 14 inch frame. I think that is about 28 X 36 in centimeters.
  10. Well done! They should be very pleased.
  11. A couple of years ago, when I first started scrolling, I wanted to learn everything I could. One day in a used book store, I found a DVD “Mastering the Art of Scroll Sawing†by Jeff Zaffino. Bought it thinking it was about general scroll sawing. It turned out to be about one project. Good stuff but when I tried to watch it, I found out it was about spiral blades. Threw the DVD in a draw and kind of forgot about it. My grandson found it this summer and asked if I would ever try the pattern on the cover – can't say no to him. By this time I had used spirals a few times and thought they had there place. Told the kid I would do it. Got the pattern and wood set and then I really looked at the pattern. Said to myself are you crazy? So after 2 months here it is. Stack cut 2pcs of 1/8 oak ply. Used mostly FD 3/0 spirals. I will probably keep one for myself and gift the other but would be interested is how much you all would charge. Thanks for looking (and I don't think you will ever see another one this hard from me again).
  12. Thanks for all the kind comments. I love Bible verses, just don't like cutting letters - LOL! One of the things that helps with letters that I figured out, is to us an easy font. Times New Roman for example has perfect strait lines and right angles. I try to use one like Word Art or Brush Hand which have softer lines and are way more forgiving. My customers don't know or seem to care. Jim
  13. Nice work!!
  14. Very Nice! Someday I will be brave enough to try intarsia.
  15. We don't always wind up doing the things we thing we will. About a year ago I did a word art pattern from Jeff Paxton's Words of Faith in Wood book as a request. Word art was not really easy for me then -or now. Next thing I know, I have a request for another one like it, then another. OK, no big deal. Then I was asked for a Bible verse, that I didn't have a pattern for. Oh-oh, now we need to learn Inkscrape to figure out how to do that! Got over that issue (kind of - still learning). Then a couple more requests for still more verses to make. This fall, I got a request for 3 of the same verse - still needed to make the pattern myself for Christmas present. First pix attached. So we stack cut 4pcs of 1/8 Oak ply in case one had some breakout. nope - all good. Now I have an extra. Took that to work and someone bought it! I guess Bible verses are my thing - whether I like cutting letters or not. Jim
  16. Best wishes!
  17. Nice work! That is well done!
  18. Well done Mike!! Great work!
  19. Great job, Kevin. Please tell me that was not one days work, or I will be depressed. That's a weeks worth at my speed!
  20. Well done! Spirals are like like the old Kenny Rogers song - "gotta know when to hold em." They have there place, but are not for every place. Just my opinion.
  21. Thanks for the reminder Travis. I thought the topic was about something different - a new project maybe?
  22. For most people, making frames is hard. For me, impossible - I just buy mine. That said, you did great.
  23. Congratulations! It is interesting the variation in how people see our work. Some love it and will buy at almost any price and some want flea market prices or less! It's alway nice to find the first kind.
  24. As alway, great work and as always I am amazed by the quantity!
  25. Great setup!! That looks very good!
