  1. I usually use 1/4" oak ply with a 1/4" BB backer that is painted black. The oak has a nice grain that people like. If you stack cut, you get more than one from each cutting.
  2. Well done!
  3. You are always amazing - amazing quantity and quality of finished items. Well done my friend. Jim
  4. Nice three day weekend and got some projects done. The Welcome to the Lake is a pattern from BobScroll and the other two are from Steve Good. Jim The Amazing Grace one I changed. The Cross replaced a outline of Jesus - I liked it better that way.
  5. Wow, "be fruitful and multiply." And they did. Nice job!
  6. Kevin, you are an artist with the saw AND paint! Well done.
  7. Wow!! really nice!
  8. I have decided to pass on this one. I have my heart set on a Hawk (I guy can dream, can't he ). Matt in West Bend, if I ever do replace the 788, I will let you know. Anyone interested it is listed on Craigs List in Green Bay. http://greenbay.craigslist.org/tls/5172508373.html Price is now $430.
  9. I have had a Dewalt 788 type 1, for about a year. Bought it used obviously. Fixed some knocking issues, but other than that have had no problems. Using it 2+ hours a day. I have a line on a Excalibur 30" for $500 used. Its a 100 miles away. I can't imagine what I need a 30" saw for - seems way too big. Also, I am a cheapskate, but this is half the price of a new unit, and I hear great things about Ex's. If I did this I would sell my 788 for about $200. What are your thoughts? Jim
  10. Good idea. With the cost of prescriptions drugs these days, you need to get something more out of them!! Sorry, editorial on big phama. Getting off my soap box new.

  14. Made this for a co-worker who wanted a welcom sign - for their camping trailer. Played with Inkscape and got this. Cut in 1/4" oak with a painted BB backer that is black.
  15. Well done! Oak is different until you get used to it. The appearance is in color and gain is just too nice not to use. I do almost everything in oak now. About the only BB I use anymore is for backer boards. Jim
  16. Nice work Kevin and nice score on the drill. That baby was not cheap to buy!
  17. Well done! I saw that pattern, but havent worked up the courage to try it yet. The straight parallel lines will show mistakes, but you did great!!

  21. Been looking at files and sanding strips that mount on a SS instead of a blade. Used to clean up lines and get rid of fuzzies, I think. Are they worth the money and do you all use them? Thanks, Jim
