Large delays at ports and a shortage of shipping containers has caused a shortage of several products including imported cheese. Perhaps thats the reason.

Save your alder cutoffs for smoking especially fish. I've never cut it but smoked a lot of salmon.

I always use a backer for support and help eliminate the fuzzy from the back. I usually use spiral blades but the same applies to both types.

To clean veins I use non waxed dental floss.

Many hardwoods are toxic. Scrollsaws produce very fine dust. MDF and any treated wood are hazardous. I have cut many and in some cases a lot of it. Highly recommend using a dust mask when cutting especially the hazardous materials.

A drop of mineral oil along the cut line, slow saw and feed speed, use skip tooth blade.

A piece of window screen placed over the pick up nozzle should stop small pieces without stopping dust extraction.

I re use for rough cutting, and dabbing glue then I put them in an empty sealable container then the metal recycling.

I usually use the rattle can but if I use the liquid it's cut with denatured alcohol about 50:50. A friend uses a 75% alcohol 25% shellac mix and 2 coats.

I know you have parts on the way. Loc Line has those parts avail for about $1 each I did'nt check amazon but they may have them but shipping is very slow. a 2 day free delivery took a little over 9 days. Good luck Fredfret

Cutting wood is like cutting meat easy across the grain harder along the grain.

A good source for info is Olson blades they have a chart that covers most blade types and recommended uses. All blades are similar skip tooth is a skip tooth, spiral is spiral, size is relatively the same so if you want reverse blades in a size 3 All brands will be very close. All old scrollers have favorite blades and favorite brands. Thin wood needs smaller blades 1,3 thicker wood 5,7,9 very thick 9,12. Good luck. I hope this doesn't confuse you try different brands then pick the best for you. Most blades are less than $4 a dozen.

If you're using a backer 1/8 if not 1/4. Do you have a need/use for more than two copies. I usually cut 3 if using 1/8 just a habit gives a little more support.

I like it. Planning to cut it over a picture. Haven't figured out what to do about the antenna yet.

I cut a little faster pushing the wood into the blade but I rarely turn the wood. I use 2/0 and #1 when using spirals.

For backers I use black paint, black felt or paper for special effects. This is for portraits. I finish toys with mineral oil and bees wax mixed. Acrylic paint, permanent marker (sharpie) and fabric dye for other things. Shellac for picture puzzles.
