  1. Nice use of used CPAP hose. I'll have to examine that approach
  2. I have used permanent marker ( Sharpie) then seal with very light cotes of spray schellac.
  3. wildwood designs / cherry tree has one I believe and Pedro on finescrollsaw.com has one.
  4. Acetone dissolves MOST of those glues. Hopefully you heal very quickly.
  5. The ONLY one that I know about is the one you are talking about. With the downsizing of S.A.W. and the reduction of people who are willing to take on one of these we are down to 1. I have never been to this one but was to the ones they had in Plattsville Wi. and they were fun, interesting and educational ( classes). The Woodworking shows come to KC every year but I have had to work or been sick for the last 6 years and have not made any yet. I live in Wichita. Fredfret
  6. Beautiful work and a great design. You should consider making some patterns and getting them published. I'm sure that Fox chapel would be interested.
  7. Flying Dutchman and Niqua are the same blade. I use FD new spiral in 2/0 for doing most of my portraits for 1/2 inch I might move up a size to a #1 just to keep from breaking as many blades.
  8. Yes it works. I don't feel I gain enough to make it worth the effort. Blades cost from 20 to 40 cents each and last quite a while. Just my opinion.
  9. For learning get the scrollsaw workbook by John nelson. Reference get the scrollsaw handbook by Patrick spielman. Patterns well find one that contains patterns that interest you.
  10. Isn't that a copyrighted pattern?
  11. You have good taste in friends.
  12. To get a shine you can use a harder wax like carnauba. It's a lot more expensive and harder to work with.
  13. Turn the variable speed up. Or change the belt to different pulleys
  14. Love the one with the bag of ground.
  15. They can be used for any thing you want. They are not great for smooth cuts in thicker wood, cutting straight lines, making real sharp corners. Try them on some scrap of the thickness you want to use check the things mentioned above then make a decision. I use them for about half my stuff.
  16. I would use a Danish oil finish applied light coats with a rag, or a short (30 sec- 1min) dunk then wipe off excess then dry. Try using scrap that you cut with the same blade to ensure there is no swelling of the wood. Fredfret
  17. Steve good used some modeling clay "filmo" or "sculpy" to do the same thing. I've never tried it though.
  18. .Divided case with sealing lid for #6 to #8 screws. 24 drawer cabinet for clocks and hangers pill bottles for Brad nails and drill bits smaller than 1/8. Brads, bits in one drawer of tool box. Anything else trip to ace or Lowe's
  19. Any "dimple" can be on the back and use cork backers .
  20. Greg, I really liked my Dewalt until it died after much use over 15 years. Replaced with a hawk. I'm from a small town in PA also Leeper by cooks forest. Fredfret
  21. Check bear woods for Charlies patterns.
  22. Mine does the same thing. About +/-3 thousandth goes away when the blade starts to cut.
  23. Maybe the design was made to allow hanging as well as mounted to a base.
  24. Carter Johnson used the color line method and the scrollsaws woodworking forum has a tutorial by him. Stave puzzles, platinum puzzles are both very creative piece users. I am not a pro but have used at least a couple sheets of 1/4 inch bb for fire wood learning and making mistakes. Using a pattern attached to 1/8 inch bb is not that much. I buy 1/8 for about $15 a sheet of 5x5 .
