Good job Barb. I am always surprized by the number of people that use patterns/templates for jigsaw puzzles. I freehand cut them and find it much more creative and challenging than following the lines someone else made. I cut quite a few family photos and using a pattern Uncle Harvey's eye is cut out or anut Bertha's ear cut off. Freehanding I don't have that problem. The only thing to remember is to make tabs or earlets that interlock. Just my $0.02.

A sand Flee is a flat bed sander in either 9" or 18" width. They use velcro backed paper/cloth and have fences, chuck adapters and other accessories. RJR studios sells them and so did Woodcraft (not sure they still do.). I have not had a reason to contact then so I don't know if they are still in bussiness or not Sorry Rolk.

They offer support for equipment that was obsolete 20 years before they bought the company. Sure wish Dewalt, Black and Decker, Sears and Delta were like that.

1) make sure your blade is at 90 deg to the table. 2) add a little bit of tension to the blade normal at 3 add to 3.5 as an example. 3) do not have any push to the side as it causes the blade to bow and a bulging cut. Hope this helps. I don't recommend a "puzzle" blade as they are prone to bow in thick wood. I use #3 or #5 for this type puzzle.

When its worn out the blade is hard to make follow the line and turns are worse. I seldom have a blade that I keep after use unless I am doing another project that will use the same blade. I put my "dead" blades in an old parmaesan cheese container then when its full I trash it and get another container. Blades are 25 or 30 cents each not the most expensive part of this hobby/obsession.

I use a bees wax and mineral oil mix for toys going to kids as it is completly non toxic. It does not give a real shine but more a satin finish with the smell of honey. I mix 1 quart mineral oil with 1 lb bees wax in an old pan heated over a hot plate out back when all melted together I pour into plastic butter containers saved with the lid and cleaned out very well.

Check Craigslist for Dewalt dw788, excaliber, rbi, hagner. Prices new are 500, 800, 1200, 1800 respective. Look at each for features. I have a Dewalt and a rbi both have pluses and minuses. Welcome to the addiction.

I top feed my BM26 for 90% of what I cut much easier for fretwork. Bottom feeding only for open work and then mostly for changing blades in a hurry or practice. It did take me about a week to get used to the blade holders but now only a couple seconds slower than bottom feeding with no project on the saw and I don't have to try to find the dang hole to put the blade thru. Takes about the same time to top feed a Dewalt as the Hawk.

I use one when cutting 3d projects from dense wood or woods that burn real easy like cherry. Not sure it does much. Table saw blade it seamed to help a little.

I use both top and bottom feeding with my Dewalt and my Hawk. Some practice is needed for both. Either method is fine what works for you is best.

Most if not all of the stuff on that site is copywrited and using it poses some ethical questions. For personal use Maybe. Sale NO Way.

Course blades #7,9 and larger pose a potential cut hazard because the gullets of the blades are so large. 2/0 would require a lot of force and could easily break the blade before the skin. I have had a couple of nicks from voids, dog barking(startled) so it can happen. losing a limb not without serious effort.
