Before the lights went out, Paul, AKA scrappile posted his Dragon. I replied that I had cut one about eight years ago. He asked if I had pictures. I did not. It has been on display at the Woodcraft store where I teach. Unfortunately, it had sat on an uncovered top shelf all this time. It had about a 1/2" of dust on it, so I decided to bring it home and clean it up. I first blew it off with compressed air, then soaked it in mineral spirits. Then when dry, I aplied a a coat of spray can lacquer.
I had to replace the clock as the tabs that hold it in the hole were broken, and the pendulum needed polishing. The pendulum is not per plan, but I decided it would make a nice touch. It is a seperate unit that fits in the same 1 3/8" hole as the clock insert.
the pattern is by Dirk Boelman. It is cut from 1/2" Red Oak and the base is Mahogany.
