  3. Thanks for stopping by Sheila!
  4. Great cutting Steve! I think grampa is one of the great pattern makers today. I have cut several of his patterns and Love them!
  5. Well done Frank!
  6. You did an excellent job Dan!
  7. The only thing to add to Travis's post above is the puzzle blades are for jig saw type puzzles, not stand up puzzles using 3/4" and above wood.
  8. Hey Ray, I have a DeWalt 733 like DW. I've had it for about ten years without a problem. The blades can be sharpend three or four times. After all these years I just replaced the blades. Lowes carries them. If you find one on Craig's list, I would snap it up!
  9. Wow Paul, that is some great cutting! Great pattern too! I can't belive your old enough to have a son retiring!
  10. Nice cutting Andy! Nice pattern and a wonderful saw! Hopefully, you have taken the hold down off. If not, do take it off. It just gets in the way of everything.
  11. Nice work Danny!
  12. Hey Ray, you probably will not saw at full speed anyway. I teach my students to start at a medium speed. On the DeWALT saw at #4 on the speed selection knob. Then if you feel your cutting to slow, turn it up a little. If you feel you can't stay on the line because it's going to fast, slow it down a little. The only time I run at full speed is when I'm cutting thick hardwood with a big blade such as a #9 or bigger. Im glad you found your vibration problem and built a stout stand. The tubular stand is crapp! The three legged stand that ia currently available is designed to help eliminate vibration on the DeWalt saw and I would recommend it.
  13. Ray, I teach scroll saw at Woodcraft in Ventura, Ca. I start my begginer students off with Olson #5 skip tooth blades cutting 3/4" pine. This is a good overall blade to learn on. It will cut nicely on 3/4" soft woods and 1/2" hardwoods as well as 1/2" to 3/4" Baltic birch plywood. We then progress to a reverse tooth blade. This blade is just like a skip tooth blade but the last few teeth pointing up. This helps to clean up the bottom of the board, but requires a little more effort too hold the board to the table as the bottom teeth want to pull the board up off the table. My recommendation to you is to start with a skip tooth blade in sizes of 2, 5 and 7 of whatever brand you choose. Stay away from the blades you find at the big box stores as they are crapp and over priced. I use both Olsen blades and Flying Dutchman blades. The blades I use the most are Flying Dutchman FD UR in sizes 1, 3, 5 and 7, and Olson Reverse Tooth blades in sizes 2/0, 2, 5 and 7.
  14. That will be a nice surprise for those folks!
  15. That's old news Jim. See Travis's post EBAY SELLER in the general scroll saw section.
  16. Beautiful work Tom, you should be proud!
  17. Waxing a cast iron table will help prevent rust and will make the table smooth and slippery. Your projects will slide easier on the table. Use a product that does not contain silicone like most car wax's. Use Johnsons past wax. You should be able to find it at most hardwere stores and Walmart or Target.Apply a small amount with a clean soft cloth. Let dry for about five minutes, then buff till the table is smooth.
  18. Its anywhere from 12 to 15 years old. The tubular stand is not original to that saw. When DeWalt sent the manufacturing of the saw to Taiwan, they changed to the tubular stand. Customers hated that stand, so they switched back to the current stand..
  19. Great work Josh! That saw looks so shiny. It should work very nicely for you! Make sure you wax that table if you haven't already.
  20. Been meaning to make one of those for a while. My wife works for a Doctor.
  21. That's adorable Steve! Grampa is a great designer!
  22. My feeling is track from an aluminum table also. Waxing the table should help.
  23. Those are gorgeous Marg, very nice work!
  24. I love the look of a wooden backer. Very well done!
