    Tui plaque

Our flax plants have flowered this year and are very popular with the local Bellbirds and Tui. This plaque is cut from reclaimed Rimu, finished with boiled linseed oil and an oil and beeswax topcoat. 21 cm x 14 cm or 8 x 6 inches approx. The Tui was also known as the Parson bird by early settlers on account of the tuft of white feathers at his throat.
  7. Lovely ornaments Don. Rob
  8. This little art nouveau flower is cut from reclaimed Rimu finished with boiled linseed oil. It measures 7 cm x 5 cm or 2 x 3 inches approx. The design is from some illustrations at www.craftsmanspace.com.
  9. Great as always Helmut. Am I correct in thinking that the tree and figures rotate? Any chance of a little bit of video of it in action? Rob P.S. Did you get the deer patterns I sent you?
  10. I can see why you didn't want to cut that again so soon but it is a great piece and pattern too. Really well done. Rob

  15. Grazing deer plaque cut from reclaimed hardwood. 16cm x 10cm or 6 x 4 inches approx. Black foam backer.
  16. That's a beautiful cut, really top notch. I'm sure they will be thrilled with it. Rob
  17. Those are great Helmut. The trouble with making things from scrap is you never want to throw away any off cuts no matter how small ! Rob
  18. Thanks everyone. @DWSUDEKUM Rimu is protected now but small quantities are milled under permit. Generally I buy from an architectural salvage yard or find pieces at the local rubbish tip. The hearts have all been cut from drawer sides from an old chest of drawers. @penquin Rimu is lovely. Wikipedia has a good write up and google images has some great pictures too. Rob
  19. Very nice Merlin. Rob
  20. Art deco inspired heart cut from reclaimed Rimu. Finished with boiled linseed oil.
  21. I love a trivet and that is up there with the best of them. Lovely work. Rob
  22. Very nice. I love the simple frame too. Rob
  23. Hi Zed, Welcome to the forum. Which Delta do you have? I have an old Q3 and love the quick blade clamps but understand that parts can be a problem so I try to treat them gently. I used to live just outside Luton but now live slightly further south !! Rob.
  24. Very nice. I love the background you used for the photo too. Rob
  25. Thanks all for your comments. I couldn't decide if I wanted to cut the remaining three hearts or not so I decided to cut another one. I do love it when the pattern comes off in one piece. Here it is side by side with the one I cut yesterday. Maybe Merlin was right and it looks better fully cut. What do you think? Rob
