  1. You must have a steady hand to do that lettering with a Dremel. Great sign, well done. Rob

Thanks guys. I get a kick out of using reclaimed timber. It helps that I'm a tightwad too. Rob

Thanks all. @Denny, the pine is 5/8ths of an inch or 16mm in new money. It was cut from an old varnished shelf I found at the recycling centre. I sanded the varnish off but left a little of the colour behind before dipping in BLO. Rob
  18. Great cutting and a lovely piece of timber. Is that a coin inset into the handle? Rob
  19. Excellent cut Kevin. I like the green background for the boat but the black for the text. Rob

Thanks everyone. Finnegan is doing well. I have to get up every two to three hours during the night to let him out for toilet breaks so it's like having a new baby. But babies stay where you put them, Finnegan needs constant supervision like a naughty toddler. Basically he is a hyperactive naughty toddler crossed with a land shark. He bites anything that moves, (me, the wife, the kids etc.) and plenty that doesn't , curtains, furniture, flower pots, you name it. I wouldn't be without him though !! Rob

  24. A lathe is obviously the best tool for the job. You could rig up a little pole lathe with a couple of bits of 4x2 for the head and tail stocks with a nail for the centres and a couple of timbers to make the bed. Fix the timbers to the tail stock but just use a clamp to fix them to the headstock once you have inserted the timber to be worked on. Wrap a cord around the work and use a bungy cord suspended from overhead to provide the return spring and a treadle to provide the forward rotation. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZKWtzp5Kgk Rob
  25. Oooh, very pretty.... Rob
