  1. Ooh I love a trivet I do and that is a great pattern, Rob
  2. I love that pattern. I cut a very small one once but must enlarge it sometime. Rob
  3. Lovely piece. There are some very challenging elements there and you did a beautiful job, Well done. Rob
  4. The wolf plaque didn't sell unfortunately but the pattern is available right here in the library. Rob
  5. Nice piece of timber whatever wood it is and faultless cutting. Very well done. Rob
  6. Whew, 94f is plenty hot! Rob
  7. Thanks everyone. I enjoyed the day and will sign up for the next one in September, hopefully it will be a bit warmer by then! I did hand out a lot of business cards so will see if that generates any orders in the meantime. Now I need to think of ways to display stuff better and maybe some new items. Bandsaw boxes is one thing I would like to try. Rob
  8. Today I did my first proper craft fair in a local village hall. There was a good turnout although it was a bitterly cold day. I got lots of nice comments but sales were harder to come by. In the end I took $320 which wasn't too bad. The table provided was quite narrow which made it hard to display things to best effect and I think it looked a bit cluttered. I will have to work on some stands for next time. The sale is held quarterly which gives me time to replenish stock in between so I am keen to make it a regular booking. Rob
  9. I can't spot where it is missing either. The bushes are secondary anyway. The buck draws your eye. Nice pattern and cutting. Rob
  10. Beautiful lettering and pattern. Really well done to you both. Rob
  11. Really great work Tony. Love the timber too. Rob
  12. Beautiful cutting and great choice of frame too. It really set it off. Rob
  13. Thanks Steve. It all comes from the local recycling centre. I buy broken furniture, mostly drawer boxes. The side and back panels are a perfect thickness for scrolling although they usually have some nail holes to contend with. Rob
  14. Another quick cutting of a wolf, designed by Grampa and from the pattern library. 3mm oversize painted mdf backer and reclaimed rimu as usual. Rob
  15. I have my first proper craft fair coming up this weekend . I have a lot of inventory built up and cut these two plaques this week. I have cut the labrador plaque before but this is a nicer piece of timber. I really love this pattern by Grampa. The giraffe pattern is by S.C and is in the library. Both pieces are in reclaimed rimu as usual, with painted mdf backers.
  16. Great to hear it is going well Iggy. The display stand you made is very effective and your items look awesome. Rob
  17. Terrific Marg. How much BB did you bring back? Rob
  18. Beautiful boxes Dave. Really lovely. Rob
  19. Another vote for the tree of life here. What a beautiful outstanding piece. Rob
  20. I was lucky to find the spare I needed for my Delta Q3 on eReplacementparts.com but the $8 part cost $25 to ship. With hindsight, I should have bought two of them (which was their total stock) since shipping would have been the same. Rob
  21. Top trivet Denny. Great pattern too. Rob
  22. Pricing is a difficult subject but I would encourage you to not undersell yourself. You are a craftsman and have produced a high quality item through your skill and attention to detail. Whoever buys that will have something to cherish that can be passed down through the generations, not a mass produced or laser cut throw away. Rob
  23. Lovely crisp cutting Alex. There's a lot of great work in those. Rob
  24. @Dan, Rimu is a native New Zealand timber that was used extensively for furniture and house construction. I buy broken old furniture or drawer boxes from our local recycling centre for most of my work and sometimes get lucky with beautiful pieces like this 4 foot by 1 foot board which I picked up for $1 NZ or 70cents US. I cut one of my Tui plaques from it and have enough leftover to make another couple. Wikipedia has more information on Rimu here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dacrydium_cupressinum and Google images has lots of pictures too. Rob
  25. Wow those look pretty great Dan. I haven't tried inlaying yet but Jim and Dave are probably the guys to help. Rob
