  1. Great pattern and cut Dave. Your lettering is flawless. That said, I am a dog man myself. Rob

    Another trivet

Thanks Matt. I couldn't remember where I found the pattern. I didn't follow it too slavishly and modified it in places to make it a little stronger. I also found after cutting the circle that it wasn't very round so I put a plate over it and drew around it then re-cut the circle. The heart is not perfectly centred as a result but I think it looks ok. Rob

    Another trivet

'Thanks Don, I do love a trivet and have cut a few in my time. Rob

    Biker plaque

Probably not Marg. It is cut from a drawer side so is a bit too thick to frame I think. I must follow your lead and try some marine ply sometime since we can't get Baltic Birch down here in the Antipodes. Rob

It is in the Transportation section on page 6. Rob

    Another trivet

Thanks Marge. the pattern was actually a free cross stitch pattern. I modified it a little to make it a bit stronger as some of it was very thin. Rob
  7. I needed a break from trivets so cut this plaque from the pattern library by The Wood Artist. Reclaimed rimu as always usual but no BLO this time just finished with Rustoleum semi-gloss spray. Rob
  8. Your work is outstanding Randy, keep them coming! Rob
  9. Fantastic Job Randy. I love that. Rob

    Another trivet

Technically it is a softwood I think Len. It is also known as New Zealand red pine but it is pretty hard. You can read more about it here: http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/conifers/page-3 Rob
  11. Great cutting Roly. Seven Rottweilers must take some looking after. I bet the food bill is huge! Rob
  12. Another trivet in reclaimed rimu finished with BLO and beeswax. Rob
  13. Personally I always apply the pattern direct to the wood with re-positional spray adhesive. Sometimes I will use clear tape over the top but most times not. Rob

    A few trivets

Sorry to hear that Kepy, I hope things get better for you soon. Thank you for the pattern, it is beautiful and fun to cut. Rob
  15. Very nice Jim. I'm sure that will sell in seconds! Rob
  16. Wow those are good. Beautifully done. Rob
  17. Have been busy lately making a mobile workbench and a couple of sawhorses so I was a little rusty when I got back to cutting. These trivets are for my next craft fair at the end of September. Cut from reclaimed timber as usual, finished with BLO and beeswax. Pattern by Arpop Pattern by Kepy I have cut Kepy's trivet before but much smaller. This one is 8 inches or 20cm diameter. It is one of my favourite patterns. Rob
  18. Ooh lots of work in that but it paid off. Great job. Rob
  19. I find that the pattern comes off with no residue. If it does stick though, a light spray or wipe with white spirit (mineral spirits I think you call it in the US) and it comes right off. I managed to pick up a small compressor for $75 NZD ($55 US) second hand. Rob
  20. Awesome pattern and cut. They'll be ecstatic with that one I'm sure. Rob
  21. Very interesting Iggy. Thanks for sharing your process. I always apply my patterns direct to bare wood with a re-positional adhesive spray and rarely have problems. If you can find a cheap compressor that will save you having to buy expensive cans of air. I find mine useful for all sorts of things and recently picked up a brad nailer for it which is great. Although you don't sand your pieces, I would also recommend a sanding mop in a drill press. You can make one from a long bolt with a couple of nuts and washers and strips of abrasive. It makes quick work of removing fuzzies and softening the edges. I wish you continued success, Rob

    Nuts 2

Those are great. I love both versions. Rob
  23. Great piece Dave. Really good work. Rob
  24. Is the light grey on it's back just the light falling on it or is the cat really that colour? I would go with less on the back and see how it looks. You could always add more later. Rob P.S. I'm not a pattern designer so what do I know!
  25. They are out of stock in New Zealand too. I was told there was a new model in the pipeline and an ETA of 2-3 months. That was a couple of months ago though and they are still out of stock. Rob
