  1. Thanks Peter, we do have Bunnings here. I haven't seen any marine ply there but I will ask next time I go in. Rob
  2. That's tough. I bet you can't wait. Scrolling is so addictive. Rob
  3. I would love a ute with a big tray but the wife says "Where will we put the kids and the dog?" apparently in the back is not an option.... Rob
  4. Sadly Baltic birch ply is not available here in New Zealand nor it seems Australia. I know Marg uses Marine ply as an alternative but I have so far only found marine ply in 8' x 4' sheets at $56 per sheet. Having no way to transport a sheet that size I am a bit stuck so this surfer pattern was cut from an old plywood drawer bottom. It was a bit soft which made things difficult. It might have been better stack cut but I only had one piece large enough. Anyway, here it is: Thanks Russell for another great pattern, Rob
  5. Seriously cute and the accessories really make it. The door hinges are a bit big though for the scale. Perhaps you could mount them internally or use a pin top and bottom to hinge the door? Just a thought. I hope that is constructive. Rob

    Wine Caddy

Great job. I must make some of those sometime. You could probably even stack cut a couple. Rob
  7. Excellent as always Paul. Can't wait to see it lit. Rob
  8. Very nice Dick. I like that. Rob

    Boy Fishing

Thanks Frank. The pattern was designed by Grampa though, not me. Rob
  10. Boy fishing cut from reclaimed rimu finished with 50/50 BLO and Rustoleum semi-gloss spray. Black MDF backer. Pattern is by Grampa and is in the library. Rob
  11. I don't think you will find a pattern. It is a commercial product sold by notonthehighstreet.com Rob
  12. Great cutting Monti. Is tha a Steve Good pattern? I'm sure I've seen it somewhere but have never cut it. Rob
  13. Great find Les. Looking forward to seeing your cleaned up photos but it looks like a bargain to me. Rob
  14. Thanks Steve, the plank I found at the recycling centre looked rough as guts but I thought it was worth a punt. I have managed to cut three or four pieces from it but the remainder has some bad splits. I will cut it down and salvage what I can from it. Rob
  15. Spring has finally arrived down here in the Southern Hemisphere! Lambs are frolicking in the fields and blossom is on the trees so I cut this snow drop plaque to celebrate. Reclaimed rimu as usual finished with 50/50 BLO and Rustoleum semi-gloss spray. Painted MDF backer. Rob
  16. Dick, Why not give the craft show a try? They can be tiring but I'm sure you will enjoy it and people will love your work so you have nothing to lose! Rob
  17. I feel for you Bobby. That's tough. Rob
  18. Monti, I use 50/50 BLO and mineral spirits a lot. Dunking is easier than applying with a brush. I bought a cheap metal oven dish a couple of inches deep and put my work-piece in that. I pour over the BLO mix trying to cover all the nooks and crannies and then turn the work over and check from the other side. Once I am happy and it has had a few minutes, I hang it to dry over the dish. When it has stopped dripping I pour the mix back into a jam jar with a lid and keep it for the next job. I also hang the tray over the jar with a funnel to get as much as I can off the tray. You can clean the tray with mineral spirits if you like too. If I use rags or paper towels at all, I soak them in water and dispose of them in an outside bin. I am very careful about that and have not had any problems. If I were you, I would test on a piece of scrap from the work you cut first so you can be sure you will like the result before committing yourself. Rob
  19. Beautiful job Monti. I love the pattern and your cutting is perfect. Rob
  20. Great piece Dave. Rob
  21. That is great Dick. I like the idea of changing the door toppers with the seasons too. Have a great Fall y'all, down here in NZ we are just starting Spring with lambs in the fields and blossom on the trees. Rob
  22. I know that is a lot of work but you must have got an almighty buzz from having finished it. It's great, well done. Rob

    My Comb

I love those Merlin. Very interesting design too. Rob
  24. That looks great Jim. I love the colour of the wood against the black background too. Rob
  25. Love those. Really nice cutting but as Len said, a little sanding and they will be perfect. Rob
