  1. I bought these plans somewhere around the late 90's. While I was fired up about this project when I got the plans, I was still pretty new to scrolling and when I looked at the plans I decided it was a bit to large for me to do on the Ryobi 16" single speed I had at the time. Plus I didn't want to use plywood (too boring) and my wood knowledge was non existent at the time. Well, now it's 2022, and I'm finally ready to take this on. I won't be using plywood, rather making my own laminate to take advantage of natural wood colors. I have 2 saws that are more than capable of handling this project. A question for anyone who has done this project, is there any reason why the 2 wheels can't be stacked for the cut. I've only look briefly at the plans, but really don't seen any reason why they couldn't be stacked? Chis
  2. This is a JGR pattern. I got the inspiration for the Blue background from another villager. I went looking for they're name. But can't locate it, so if anybody knows who, please let us know. Anyhow I mounted to a basswood blank (kinda appropriate I thought) and I started this a while ago so as far as I can remember the woods are Butternut, Aspen,Blue Pine and cedar(lure). Chris
  3. Can't say as I've ever thought of using my pin nailer on those kinds of projects. Certainly is something to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing! Chris
  4. What I need is a "Inkscape for dummies" book, I actually looked for one, no luck.
  5. Just spent an hour trying to figure out Inkscape. After getting no where I went to the University here and watched a few videos and learned one thing. I am NOT a pattern designer. My hats off to all of you that can do that. I was just trying a simple script name, got no where. Think I'll stick to free handing what I need. Chris
  6. Welcome to the dark side, now you can never return. Seriously though, The folks here are the best, helped me out numerous times over the years. Welcome! Chris
  7. Fir what it's worth I've tried the magnifying light like that ,never had any success with it. I switched to using 2 sewing machine lights and a magnifying visor. Much better. My work surface is much better lit and I can move my head and the cut line stays in focus. Chris
  8. Looks great to me! Chris
  9. I got my first scrollsaw from Johnson's, it's the Delta P-20 I still have. That place is a dream , I could spend all day in the lumber section, but I dont have that much money, plus the wife would leave me!!!
  10. Exactly why I got rid of my joiner and now use hand planes, much safer and a great deal more satisfying.
  11. Actually just trying to thin down some of the stock I have. Most all of it is 3/4 to an inch. So I was going to try to get it to 1/8th or 1/16th for some projects I have in mind. And in the back of my mind I was always wondering if a drum sander would work better then my planner. I can send the stock thru the band saw to get close, but after that is what I was thinking the drum sander might be a better choice.
  12. I have a delta 12". I've watched videos where they put down a board for the stock to ride on so you can go thinner, haven't tried that yet. I haven't tried the woodmaster, I'll have to look into them.
  13. I wasn't sure where to post this, so here I am.. Anyhow I have a 12" planner, but I'm thinking that a drum sander would be a better choice for getting thicker stock thinner for projects. I have a band saw for the resawing (I think that's the right term), but to get to final thickness I keep thinking that a drum sander would be a much better choice, and safer too! So I'm here looking for input before I try to talk the boss into another tool (lol) Chris
  14. Gotta love them Soggy Bottom Boys! Nice job.
  15. Video games have always been a part of my "fun time". My daughter is also a gamer heading to college. I made this fridge magnet for her.
  16. Welcome John, I lived in Central Florida back in the 80's and 90's. Worked at Disney. Went back there a couple of years ago, That area has exploded, more roads and people than I care to deal with. But it's where I got my start into scrolling. Good luck and enjoy. Chris

  23. This is what I'm using for now. Still on a learning curve. I'm having issues getting all the micro bubbles out. But the nice part is using it as "stained glass" and tinting the epoxy. The micro bubbles seem to add character. I git the epoxy from Lowe's and the tint from Amazon. Chris
  24. I like that, makes you chuckle! Chris
  25. Looks purdy darn good to me! Nice work. Chris
