  1. My King arrived today. I was surprised to see it was bolted to plywood inside the box. After unbolting and unpacking I gave it a few test runs, got the "feet" on it, clamped to my bench, not the best set up, I was rather surprised a the vibration, not near as smooth as my Delta. I am thinking at this point it was because I dont have it mounted to eliminate the vibration. At any rate I love the size of the table, larger than my Delta. I have a couple of weeks before I take it "on the road" in the RV. I plan to cut Mawbry"s Mill while RVing so I hope I can get the vibration under control. Chris
  2. I'm actually kinda excited, but then getting a new anything in the shop is exciting!
  3. Just got word that my new saw, a King 16", to go with me RVing. Should be here Wednesday. My first new saw since I bought my P-20 back about 1997 near as I can remember. I do plan to get the Peges clamps for the blade holder. I'll have a couple of weeks to "tune" it up before we head out for a week on the road. Chris
  4. I'll echo what others have said, looks like a sweet set up you have there. Chris
  5. Thanks to all for bringing the King to my attention, I would have never given it a thought until now. The 16" looks like it fits the bill. I knew I could find a answer to my quest here, Thanks again to all who chimed in and SSV !! Chris
  6. At this point I looking at the 18" heg and 21" peg. No stand as it will be easier for me to stow when traveling. Just learning as much as I can about both before committing. Either way I'm sure it will be an improvement over my P-20. Been on that for about 20 years now. WOW how time fly's.
  7. You know, I'd have to agree with you on this, seems like I'm searching until I find one that calls out to me.
  8. 65 I can work with, 140 not so much. Thanks....
  9. Just learned that my P-20 comes in at a hefty 140 pounds which explains why it's a PITA to move! Anybody have any experience with the Pegas saws?
  10. Good to know, Thanks !
  11. I'm not sure where I got the 70 pounds, I just know it's a real beast!! Funny you mention LL Johnson Lumber, thats where I bought my P-20 back around 2002 ish. I am leaning toward the Hegner, the 18" as I would want the adjustable speed. Prior to this post I would have leaned toward the something like the Dewalt, but thanks to SSV and all the info here I'm seriously looking at the Hegner. Chris
  12. I really like it, Would be an interesting tree topper, don't you think? Chris
  13. As some of you may know I'm on the hunt for a saw to take with me in my motor home while camping. I have been using a Delta P-20 for close to 20 years now. Love it! But it comes in at 70 pounds. About 10 years ago I picked up a bunch of spare parts so I'm well stocked in that respect. My dilemma is do I get another P-20 for camping to avoid taking the one out of my shop which is in my basement or go with something like a Dewalt 788? My main concern is vibration, my P-20 is rock solid, smooth as silk, never having had any time on anything else (except my starter Ryobi) I'm concerned it won't be a smooth as what I'm used to. I also ask because I have a line on 2 different P-20's that are calling my name. So I'm reaching out to all you SSV folks and asking for your thoughts?
  14. Thanks, Might take a trip there one day.. Chris
  15. In the Wooden Teddy Bear advanced patterns is one called "The Mill. I believe another name for the pattern is "Marbry's Mill". I found the real place picture the pattern is from, anyone know where the Mill is located? Chris
  16. Looks great to me, sometimes I really dont have a project to work on so I just tinker with cutting scrap, any time on the saw is good. Nice clean cutting. Chris Nice fly swatter...

    Awesome!! Chris
  22. Got a line on a Dewalt 788 type 1 for $300. I know theres a type 2, just can't remember which one is better? Anyhow good deal or bad? It's in dang good shape. Chris
  23. Very nice, I remember the movie well, such memories. Chris
  24. I don't believe you were out of line. I'm sure everyone will agree that exploring new ways of doing things is always good, and presenting those ideas here is a great way to expose a lot of people who may not otherwise find out about it. Back a few years ago I tried using a 2 x 4 clamped to the table for straight cuts. That didn't work, blade drift made that idea impossible. So don't feel bad about presenting a new idea, it's all good Chris
  25. I cant say as in all the years I've been scrolling that I've had a blade that would allow me to use a fence for a straight cut, I've always had to run the straight line at an angle to get the blade to cut "straight". But, hey, if it works for you, thats great! Besides witch, my table is mostly round, hard to mount a straight edge on that. Chris
