  1. Ditto on the welcome, this is an addicting hobby, just know your in good company. Any and all questions are welcomed and answered. You are doing great!! Chris
  2. Nice choice on the rose, nice contrast, nice job!! Chris
  3. Welcome....back. I went thru the same thing (divorce and away from scrolling) some time back. Best thing was getting back into scrolling I was better able to get quality stuff and make better decisions about tools and such. Chris
  4. I really like the barber sign, very well done! Chris
  5. Very nice, excellent framing job too! really showcases the piece! Chris
  6. Looks great
  7. Welcome from Michigan. The weather down there must be challenging to say the least. This is a great place to get questions answered or just hang out. Chris
  8. A project I finished back this winter. Started with a 2 X 4, milled and glued into a panel then cut. The birds are colored with a sharpie, snow painted and the leafs are stain. Chris
  9. Nice job with the Duke, the frame, like others have said, nice touch!
  10. Very nice, looks peaceful.
  11. That Buffalo is part of my themed projects. I have finally acquired a Moose pattern for #4. Awesome job cutting, it's not easy with all those direction changes. Cutting speed is the answer.
  12. Thats what my gut is telling me, hold out for a good Delta. So I think thats what I'll do!
  13. Funny you mention that, I had to go back and look, apparently you need to tilt the table all the way left to get at the lower blade holder, I need to check out that Wen.
  14. Exactly why I'm looking at it. My P-20 is 70 pounds, the Makita is 37. I'm after one to take in the motorhome when traveling. Chris
  15. I have a line on a fairly unused Makita scroll saw. Wondering if anyone out has any knowledge of this saw? I checked the reviews, nothing there on the saw, just a link to the manual. Chris
  16. Thanks for the offer on the saw, but I'll pass on it. I'm really in no hurry to get one as I wont be taking it "on the road" until next camping season, so I have time. Around labor day there are tons of yard sales in this area, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find something then, but I'll keep my eyes open for deals on craigs list and other sites around my part of Michigan. Chris
  17. been looking for a little over a week now. This is going to take longer than I thought. So many people trying to sell scroll saws that are junk for a premium price. I looking for something in a 16" model, enough to keep me busy and I can save the harder stuff for the P-20. Chris
  18. Tried the blue tape thing once, really didn't care for it, I use clear shelf liner and glue the pattern to that, haven't had any problems since. I gotta say I really don't understand how the adhesive lubricates the blade, I just can't wrap my head around that. Seems to me like it would increase the friction the blade creates. Chris
  19. Definitely got to find something, preferably a Delta of some kind with features similar to my P-20. I'm not sure I could talk the wife into something like an Ex or Hegner.. The search commences.. Chris
  20. You're right, the P20 is a beast, my shop is currently in the basement and I'll have to get some guys to get it out if I evened to move it. I already have the motorhome part of the equation and I'm pretty sure my wife won't allow me to find a custom job with a scrollsaw (lol). The Delta you mentioned is a saw I had prior to the P20, something I hadn't considered but I must say is an excellent idea. And I believe still have spare parts from that earlier saw. The search is on....Thanks!! Chris
  21. Like you I'm always on the lookout for wood I can recycle. One thing I noticed over the years, every time we replace a piece of furniture I take the old one apart to salvage the wood. But seems to be less hard wood and more chip board these days. Pallets are also a great source if you have the means to make it usable. Chris
  22. My wife and I are doing a lot more RVing as we get closer to my retirement. As I don't see me hauling my Delta P-20 with me on the road, I was wondering, is there a saw out there that's preforms as well as my Delta but is half the weight? Chris
  23. With covid I finished most of my home projects so I had a little time on my hands and done scrap 1 x 3 pine. So the inner nerd took over and this is what I came up with. I made a block from the pine measuring 8 x 13 and 2¼ thick. Printed off the letters and went to my scroll saw. I might have been able to cut it on my band saw, but I have a ¾" blade on it and didn't want to change, besides, the inside of the "O" would have been a challenge. Some craft paint and glue....done! In the background you can see the clamp, I had just glued it when I took the picture. The combo square is for size reference. Chris
  24. +1 on this idea... Chris
  25. You know, I never thought about putting flowers in them...DOH!!! Very nice basket, You have inspired me to make one.......or two..... Chris
