  1. I started using FD back more years than I can remember. About 2 years ago after reading all the hub bub about Pegas I bought some. Tried them on various woods and thickness's and had the same results as you, couldn't get the Pegas to cut on the line, straight or curved. So I'm using only the FD. Every now and ten I get a wild hair and try the Pegas, still not for me. Chris
  2. Very nice, your weather looks a great deal better than ours, supposed to snow this weekend.... Chris
  3. DOH !!!!! At least you figured it out....
  4. I believe this is an Alex Fox pattern. 3 layers of 1/4 ply probably should have used 1/8, still seems to have worked out Chris
  5. Looks great, Did you just free hand with the dremel? Chris
  6. What brand?
  7. My saw is a Delta P-20, I have it on the stock stand, which I'm now thinking is a bit too high. I'm thinking it's time to consider making a scroll saw stand/table that's a bit lower..... Chris
  8. Due to current events, and like most everyone here, I'm spending a great deal of time in my shop and at my scroll saw. In the past I'd always stand when sawing, but with the added time I'm spending at the saw along with the fact I'm no longer as young as I think I've changed my shop around so that now I'm seated when on the scroll saw.. I've tried a few different chairs but haven't found anything that really is comfortable yet. What are you using when seated at your saw? Chris
  9. very nice, really captures Clapton... Chris

Welcome to SSV. This is an awesome site, every question I've ever had I found an answer here, so don't be afraid to ask. Again...welcome Chris
  11. Looks great !!!!
  12. What size canister? I found everything else. Chris
  13. Awesome idea. I'm tackling the dust issue in my shop these days and as my scroll saw is a ways from the other power tools I was trying to figure out how to handle the dust collection. With your post problem solved, thanks!!! Gotta love this site !! Chris
  14. I guess it all depends on what your cutting and the size of the blade your using. For me personally blade life depends on a lot of factors, wood being cut, thickness of the wood, size of the blade, speed of the saw, the tension of the blade, and. If you find yourself having to "push" harder than usual then it's time to change the blade, I will say I find it amazing that your blade lasted as long as it did. I buy my blades by the gross because if I'm cutting hardwood it's not uncommon for me to go thru several blades on a project. So I guess the best answer would be if you find yourself "pushing" harder than you feel is necessary it's time to change the blade. Good luck, the puzzle looks great! Chris
  15. Very Impressive.....Amazing job !!! Chris
  16. I'll echo everyone here... WELCOME, sit a spell, what's on your mind.... Chris
  17. I'm kinda looking forward to being stuck at home. My job is closing for 2 weeks, I have plenty of wood in the shop and now I have TIME...... Chris
  18. I'm not really sure why I got interested in scroll sawing, I can remember cutting the bench as if it were yesterday, on a Ryobi 16" saw, single speed with pinned blades. Made for some huge entry holes...lol. I know I got the pattern from Scroller before we had the internet, perhaps I saw the pattern in a catalog. I also included a pic of the most recent bench I did. It's half the size of the original with more detail. The big one is Cypress the smaller one is butternut. Anyhow now I have a Delta P-20 using pinless blades. The Cardinal Wreath I finished today. I'm improving at sanding and shaping so now I'm going to give Intarsia a go.. Chris
  19. Quality Blades Be mindful of the blade speed, it is directly related to cutting speed...Get a saw with variable speed!!! Chris
  20. There's a local guy selling a 16" Rikon Scroll Saw, looking for input on this saw as I know nothing about the company. Thanks, Chris
  21. NICE, You can never go wrong when making things for family.....Nice portraits!! Chris
  22. For what it's worth, perhaps a sun burst kind of background, off center , yellow blending into oranges and such. Just a thought. Chris
  23. That's great information. I've always used an old natural eraser but they can be a bit costly, I like the idea of a rubber sole sneaker. Heck I sometimes see them discarded on the side of the road...(lol) Chris
  24. For what it's worth I use 1/8 for all my portraits..Both Lee and Grant are 1/8" Chris
  25. New toys are the best!! Have fun Whisper....
