  1. I gotta say that's great news to me. To be honest I couldn't see why 250 rpm would be a difference. That completely changed my focus for a sander... Chris
  2. The best one I've found so far is the Seyco at $194.95 with 2 sanding sleeves. so far my front runner. It's either that or a Wood Lathe, or....Plan "C" would be to buy a bench top drill press and mount it on it's side. Chris
  3. My only concern with the Wen is the low speed is 2000 RPM's. From everything I've seen 1750 is the magic number to shoot for? Am I wrong on this? Chris
  4. I am in the same boat, I've been searching grinders, and even just electric motors and haven't been able to find anything under 2K RPM. My solution is a bench lathe. I get the variable speed I need and kinda like 2 tools in one., at least I'm 99% sure this will work. Still researching it. Chris
  5. We've all been there, like scrappile did, I too have tried in vein to cut with the back side of the blade. All part of the fun.... Chris

  9. looks like you've got this... nice job
  10. I would 2nd what Denny recommended, Stack and I personally would use a Flying Dutchman Polar 2/0 (FDP2/0) and most likely stack (3) 1/8" ply for control of the blade. Chris

    Table Stand

    Here's the back
  17. Well, I needed a tablet stand and I really didn't like any of the plastic, unnatural looking ones out there, and wanting something more personal I went to my shop to consider the matter. So as I sat in my shop trying to figure out how I could make one out of wood. After a few hours this is what I came up with. The golfer is walnut inlaid into a basswood blank.
  18. I found myself in need of a clock in my "home office", so after some searching I found just the pattern at the Wooden Teddy Bear. It's a Sue Met pattern "Golf Wall Clock". Armed with that I now needed to figure out what wood to use. A few months back we had an oversized chair that had some serious wear and tearing. Instead of dragging it to the curb I decided to take it to the garage and take it apart. The material came off quite easily exposing some promising wood. Took about a week to get it completely taken apart, I separated the wood into 2 piles. 1 for the burn pile and the other for possible projects. About 20% of the wood had potential. Gathered up enough to get 7 pieces an inch and a half wide and about 11 inches long. Ran them thru the joiner to square the edges then glue them together then thru the thickness planner. Ended up with a rather nice looking blank. So in the future I'll be taking furniture apart before tossing it to the curb. I ended up with a nice clock for my "Golf" theme office area... I did make a couple of modifications to personalized the clock for me. Chris
  19. Dang....this has my project list growing..... awesome job and inspiring Chris

  23. Here's my first project of 2019. Took my quite some time to find a pattern I liked for this project. Found it hand painted on a drum in a museum, snapped a pic and I was off and running. This is the 3rd of 4. Now to locate the pattern for #4 The critters are walnut inlaid into a basswood blank. Chris
  24. Very nice and clean. One of the work horses of WWll. Jimmy Dolittle's raid was one of the greatest achievements for this aircraft. Chris
