  1. Ive discussed this with a few friends over the years - Ive used about everything under the sun at one time or another . I use to like the flying dutchman brand - but they dropped my favorite blade because it was not popular - they told me another blade was better for the purpose I needed it for - He even told me i was wrong . I basically told him , you have your opinions and i have mine - but for my needs the discontinued blade was better for me . Ive talked to Olson blades - Even meet with a Rep for Pegas blades , and the Hegner company . Ive been threw this about 4 or 5 times - when something i like has been either changed or dropped , one saw likes this blade another likes another . So its apples and oranges - i have a box with so many different brands , sizes etc -it would make your head spin . Honestly one saw hates pegas another loves them -same with Olson blades - I would tell you at this moment my favorite brand is Pegas - tomorrow - who knows ! Ive learned that they can change a blade at a moments notice -so when i find a blade i like -i buy a couple of years worth -
  2. What about the foredom ? I have two of them and a Grizzly copy - all three are first class - i even think the grizzly is alot less than the Foredom - if your a pro Id get a Foredom ! very durable ( mines like 30 years old )
  3. I totally agree - thou thats a hard thing to do now a days but I will be as good as i can be
  4. every single time Im done with the saw for the day - the tension comes off - think its smart and helps the longevity of the saw- have done this since day 1
  5. I honestly didnt know about this titebond - building some cabinet doors this morning for my daughter might be the ticket -thanks for the information ! ( will order it )
  6. Not necessarily -when you look at it as all those blades feed me and my family I basically put them in a can so nobody runs across them and gets hurt.
  7. Angelo -Welcome ! you'll find that this forum is full of lots of love for scrolling were glad to have you .
  8. I typically pack them in a plastic folger's coffee can -about every 3-4 years when their packed i take them to the transfer station and toss the can in the metal bin - i asked and they don't mind them in the plastic container -because of the sharpness of the blades didn't want any one handling them to get hurt. a few years back a friend use to ask me for my old blades but when he realized all the cutting i do and that i totally wear them out ( ill admit I'm cheap ) he didn't want them .
  9. i know when i had a problem with my on/off switch on my delta sander , delta was not very helpful after a long phone wait ( this is before the pandemic ) they told me they dont make that part any more - I called grizzly tools -they told me it should fit ( or i could send it back ) it actually was a perfect fit -was exactly the same part as the delta ( which is a american older machine ) and it was like 8 bucks -daahh . Id suggest calling Grizzly and asking them they might have a block that will fit your machine - I actually trust them more than the original manufacturer. Im not a fan of the extension block -becasue i typically have to special order the blades - their not on the wall of my home depot .
  10. I have realized Ive used so many different brands , and even the same blade can change from year to year - sometimes the teeth cut deeper sometimes more shallow - when ever anyone asks me what i use i tell them general sizes -but even with that , 5 different people will like 5 different brands or sizes -becasue not every saw cuts the same and how you cut is different -alot like different kinds of cars -its crazy - some blades like pegas for example dont seem to last for long on a particular saw --
  11. mine is almost identical - not the atlas name think i bought it for like 50 bucks a zillion years ago. since then i bought a full size metal working rockwell delta from a local BOCES for like 100 bucks - but the original drill press will stay when we down size .
  12. Tony , Welcome to the forum -this is a great forum with allot of really nice people ,
  13. Great idea - a secondary collector to grab the saw dust - very smart !
  14. how about this one :
  15. I had a friend who gave me a pile of wood looked a bit like this - mine was mahogany scraps some people can take stuff like so called barn wood - and make country crafts out of it , I knew a gent who made flying geese as wall hangings -he made a decent living at it- they sold well - I think you have a diamond in the rough !
  16. Chris, your very talented -great job- welcome to the forum !
  17. Crazy thing about TP -when you see someone buying like 200 rolls ! what i call a life time supply , basically just hysteria i guess - not going to tell you i didnt go a little crazy - hoping to stay in place at least a couple of weeks before i visit a store again - but like everyone else Its hard not to go stir crazy - I typically get my wood and blades at the end of the year -So i am doing fine. What scares me is that I keeps getting emails from shows i do suggesting that they may cancel -thats my livlihood -getting scary
  18. rubber bands , clothes pins , spring clamps ( a buck a piece at home depot I personnally have so many clamps i could open a store - especially those big darn pipe bar clamps ( kits i got from sears years ago -use steel threaded pipe ) and bar clamps ( get those from home depot etc) -id stay away from the small bar clamps from harbour freight their junk , and of couse my old favorite -masking tape
  19. A bushing is simply a metal ring with a specific interior and exterior size and length -which most are available and pretty much every bearing that has ever been made is still available -( their are so many different bearing companies in the world ) check with a bearing supply house -they may even be able to get you those bushings - of course you need the bearing and bushing sizes -which dewalt should be able to give you if they no longer carry them. a local machine shop should be able to direct you to a bearing supplier - if your having a problem .
  20. I started with one of those square metal box fans you can find for like 20-25 bucks at my local Hardware store or local big box store - i bought a pleated cloth like filter for a furnace for fine particles ( think 3m -about 7-10 buck ) the same size as the front of the fan -and taped it on . run the fan on low -and it will do about the same as that 699.00 fan . Their actually was a company that use to enclose those box fans in a metal case with a fiberglass filter medium thats on a roll - that went out of business because of this simple trick ( about 15-20 years ago )
  21. Jim i know that the best way to take care of yourself in a bad flu area -is to keep washing your hands -stay away from people and wipe down stuff like door knobs etc. The masks are ok for doctors that work with the situation but should never be your first defense - not touching your face would be good advice . Im doing stuff like shopping when the stores are empty - and drinking alot of water !
  22. We use to have a big show in hamburg NY , where the scrolling club I was involved in use to set up and do demos ( its no longer their and the club dissolved quite a few years ago ) the last year or two of it was lame - but it was a nice way to spend a day with friends !
  23. i bought something like that quite a few years ago from grizzly tools -it was a black cap for a metal garbage can with a hose in and one out to the dust collector ( from grizzly ) it separates the big stuff from the dust which goes to the dust collectors bags Id worry about that smaller unit killing a shop vac -dont think shop vacs are made to run all that long - my grizzly's collector's on about 1/2 of the day .
  24. Hang in their my friend - im in the belief that most of that will start to turn around about mid year
