  1. MY wife has done lot's of tole painting and she has a real big collection of paint, so I just help myself to it.
  2. No it is not compound cut, the pattern is from Diane Thompson at www.scrollsawinpirations.com and it is called "Whimsical Birdhouses Ornaments"
  3. Russell, as promised here is the result of your pattern, it was not an easy cut but with a little bit of patience I think I managed to do it justice. I chose this piece of wood because this person really like wood with bark on it, also the name of the designer is BirchBARK LOL
  4. It has been very hot here lately and since my workshop is in the basement, which has A/C, I spend some times making a little bit of sawdust. BTW Travis is the pattern designer for the golfer.
  5. I used FDUR #7 and full speed on the saw. Let the blade do the work, don't push to hard and you will be fine. Poplar is soft wood, should cut easy.
  6. Don't forget the finishing is the most important thing to get the BIG $$$$$$$$. You are a machine.
  7. A good thing to use for the perch is 1/8" dowel, they are cheap and you cut them with a knife. With my bird houses I used a black felt marker and I painted black with it. Kevin you are getting close to master the "BIRD HOUSES", I am sure they will sell like hot cakes.
  8. They look very good, may I suggest to use some lint from the dryer and put it in the hole. I did that and people seems to like it better than a bare hole.
  9. This is awesome cutting, must have patience of an angel and the talent also.
  10. Very sad indeed he was a legend in the scrollsaw world, maybe to remember and honor him, next time that we install a new FD blade on our saw, we paused for a moment in his memory. RIP Mike
  11. Here is a pic of the bowl that I made using purple heart. Heart shape for Valentine day
  12. I made a heart shape bowl for my wife last Valentine day, I know how difficult it is to shape and sand the purple heart but the finish product is beautifull. You did an excellent job.
  13. This is well worth it to support this site, all the benefit that we get from this site is incredible.
  14. You guys were right she LOVE it. Brownie points for me.
  15. Just finished this clock, pattern from Sheila Landry, could not resist to count the holes as I drilled them on the drill press. So there are 158 entry holes in this clock and lot's of them it took longer to get the blade in and out then to cut the holes. LOL Since the wife loves butterflies I guess it was worth it.
  16. Your scrollsaw does not need any oil or grease, I have mine for 3 years maybe 500 hours of cutting and I never did a thing to it.
  17. Sorry boys no more reno for me I had enough and if mother Nature look at the calendar it is time for golf season soon I hope.
  18. Sheila Landry pattern # SLD 513 and you get the 3 leaves
  19. Just about done with house renovations, installed two sinks in master suite, replaced hardwood floor with tiles in the kitchen, tiled the fire place from floor to ceiling, got all the kitchen cabinets refaced and the complete main floor of the house has been repainted. Just manage a few hours here and there in the hobby shop in the basement.
  20. I have made lot's of mini birdhouses, everybody loved them. I used 1/8 dowel for the perch to hold the bird and also I used lint from the dryer to put in the hole with a little bit of dried grass, just put a little bit of glue in the hole and then put the lint and grass in. Attached are some finish products and some are still in the unfinish state.
  21. Excellent work Denny, only 5 hours that is pretty speedy and lot' of patience to tackle this project. You produce very good Work.
  22. Kevin you never slow down you are like the energizer bunny. Excellent cutting as usual.
  23. Denny excellent work, I made lot's of stuff from Sheila, will have to get this one.
  24. This has to be put on display, excellent work and lot's of fine details.
  25. Welcome to the village, lot's of friendly and helping people. I'm sure you will enjoy the place.
