  1. No rules on the color of woods you use. Make it your own. Let your imagination go wild. aromatic cedar, purple heart, yellow hear, aspen, maple zebra, blue pine, Peruvian walnut, padauk, sapele, and alder. Maybe a couple others in there, really not sure.
  2. While working in my shop this morning I nicked my Thumb on my scroll saw blade. I always blead a bunch even if it's something minor. Of coarse I was getting blood all over the project I was working on. I thought that if they can use super glue instead of stitches it might just make a good bandage. Worked great.
  3. Nothing better than spending time with the grandkids.
  4. That came out great Dick. Nice work.
  5. Awesome job. Love the frame.
  6. Lets have more of this. All natural wood.
  7. Hope you like it as well as I like mine.
  8. I put the blade in, put the tension lever back, turn the back knob until I start to feel tension, turn 3/4 turn more for a #3 blade and a full turn for a #5 blade. After that I will not mess with the tension until my blade brakes or I go to a new blade. If that happens I double check it. That's how I tension mine.
  9. I see a lot of round ones because they can be turned easily on a lathe. Odd shaped not so much.
  10. Nice work. I really like the oblong one.
  11. There are some Doctors that giving people mono vision after implants, one eye for far and one for near. This practice is also common using contacts.
  12. Can you wear you glasses under it? What brand are you wearing?
  13. Normally if you make your reading glasses a lot stronger it shortens the focal distance. My working distance is good I would like to see it larger.
  14. Currently I am using a 3x LED magnifier. It is high quality and I have been very pleased with it. Lately I have been doing a lot of intarsia. The accuracy of the cut is super important, not just staying on a line but splitting it. That got me thinking that maybe a wearable magnifier might be of some help. Any feedback appreciated.
  15. I've had mine for about four years. They are expensive and so are the parts but I've never heard of much going wrong with them. Not near as many bearings as other saws to wear out. I'm sure it will outlive me. I have seen a few used for sale for around $600. I'm not crazy about having to work on one so I personally rather buy new and have a warranty.
  16. Sure is a cute little guy. Nice job. I also love canary. I buy it in 4/4 and resaw it. You never know what it is going to look like on the inside. Sure has a distinct odor also.
  17. Great pattern and cutting. Love her music.
  18. I got it out of the book "The Art of the Scroll Saw." I have several patterns of chess pieces but that is my favorite. I would be interested to see if you can cut the Ivory. Would you have to polish it after you cut it?
  19. The table is my design. Not very complicated.
  20. Thanks so much Marg. I know how the pieces move but I'm no good at it but I sure like making the tables and pieces.
  21. I will show them at a future event. I kind of doubt if the top pieces will sell. They will be fairly pricey and they are very fragile. It took me about an hour to cut each one and then I had to sand and finish. They will shatter if they would hit the floor.
  22. Super nice job. Are there three layers? If so it takes a lot of material. Did you use 14" Baltic Birch?
