  1. Great job! dave
  2. Travis, I can't thank you enough for all the hard work you have put into this site along with the tutorials. I would also thank all the members of this site that have helped me on my journey. I will admit I have an addictive personality. From what I have read up on the subject it is something you can't change but you can find something productive to be addicted to. Before I found scrolling last November I was addicted to day trading. It was a bad news habit for me and my wife. Through the help and support of my wife, Dewalt scroll saw, and all for you on this board I have been able to give up a bad habit and replace it with a good habit. Thanks to all of you. dave

  13. Thanks for the nice comments. Sounds like I might need to add a bit of shine to my stuff. I would like to be able to sell a few pieces so I can keep on cutting. dave
  14. Dan, What do you mean by stringing? Are you making pendents out of it? dave

  19. Box measures 6" x 8" and 3" deep. The butterfly is mahogany and walnut. I also used walnut and maple for the box. I use a matte finish. The last project I showed one of the members thought it wasn't finished. Got me thinkin.....I like a matte finish but what do you think the average public likes? I definitely have to break down and buy a drill press. Pretty hard to drill straight holes without one. Glad my drill bit was 1/32" or my filled holes would have been more noticeable. This was the first time that I inlaid three species of wood. It was definitely trickier. My alignment wasn't perfect but overall I am pleased. I appreciate any feedback. dave
  20. Both you guys did a great job! dave
  21. Last week I drove to Fort Worth to my wood supplier and stocked up on plywood and hardwood. I am really excited on what I found. They had 1/4" mdf core red oak and maple. It has veneer on both sides. Of coarse one side is a bit better than the other. It is a full 1/4" thick. The maple was $25 and the oak was $21 a sheet. I was so anxious to try it.... I stacked four pieces and cut Steve Goods pattern of a picture easel. Really cut nice and clean, other than the dust I really like it. Had to be careful sanding because the veneer is really thin. I tried a test with a spiral blade and was amaze how little it tore out on the back side.
