  2. Alex, You might check this out. It helps explain inlays. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/15518-making-simple-boxes-with-inlay-in-lid/?hl=%2Bcedar+%2Bboxes Jim here at the village did this. dave
  3. Thanks Steve. Do you have to rinse it out good so it does not get hard? dave
  4. Scott, I like your idea. If you do that on a plaque, won't that put enough glue on that when you clamp it that the glue will ooze out where the backer is showing in the letter openings? dave
  5. Tony, Very nice job! Where did you get the pattern. dave
  6. If you have any tips or tricks gluing thin script to a backer please share. Seem like I have a lot of problem with it oozing out. dave

  12. Glad you joined. Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do. dave
  13. The plaque and inlay is 5/8 thick. My angle was a bit steep so the inlay did not go all the way in but it really didn't matter because I covered the back with a backer. The biggest problem I have is that I need to buy a smaller drill to hold the tiny drill bits. Thanks for all the nice comments. dave
  14. Beautiful pattern and cutting. dave
  15. Welcome Chris, I am a newby here and at scrolling. Sure am glad to have all you experienced guys here to mentor beginners. I live over in Justin. It would be nice to meet you sometime... I know nothing about intarsia and would like to learn. dave
  16. The last project I showed was repairing a brain fart with an inlay. Actually, I have had a couple of them lately. I liked the outcome enough I thought I would do an inlay on purpose this time. I haven't sold any pieces yet and I question if the inlay will add enough in value to pay for the time and materials. Of coarse most of what we do is for our own satisfaction, enjoyment and ego. This plaque measures 8" x 16". It is 5/8" white oak with a walnut inlay. I used a 1/8 Masonite backer. dave
