    I looked around to find a Phoenix pattern and I couldn't find one that I was in love with. Chat GPT came up with this image and I put it into Inkscape and traced it.

    I also started with a dewalt. Went through two in two years. Currently I have a Hegner and a Pegas. I make a lot of inlayed boxes so I leave my Pegas set up at an angle and use it strictly for that purpose. If you are a top feeder the Hegner is not for you. It is a workhorse and you will not wear it out. I would not give up either saw. If money and space isn't an issue I would buy both.

    I think the pieces are less apt to break or come off if they are inlayed.

    It sure does make sense. When you reverse the lid do the side ribbon still line up with the top ones? Any tips on getting the top ribbons square with the box. Sure would be easier if the box was square.

    Thanks. The wings are quarter sawn sycamore. Both are inlaid into the tops otherwise. The dragonfly legs are so small there is no way I could have surface mounted them.

    I make many different types of boxes. The ones I posted are pain but finished inside. Some I put inserts for jewelry.

    Thanks for your kind words. I have been wood working as a hobby my whole life but I bought a scroll saw ten years ago.

    How time flies. I joined this group ten years ago which was the beginning of my scroll saw journey. So many members here gave me help and guidance. I can't thank you all enough. I have to give @Jim Finn credit for introducing me to inlayed box. That got me going on box building. Now I enjoy Inlaying and also incorporating intarsia into them.

    I really like you design. How hard is it to grab onto the board and lift it out? Making it bigger with 2" squares I would be worried about warpage.

    The top I used some clip art I found. I think I used one of Steve Good's patterns for the basis of the layers. Happy to share if you would like.

    Thank. I use a #5 Pegas MGT blades for all the cutting and inlay.

    They're not perfect if you look close. I have the best luck if I use 3/8" material.
