  1. Sorry for the interrupted post, I got called away and it would seem my schnauzer walked on the keyboard or something. firefox was closed down too, and I just forgot. It came, fairly quickly, but I was left wondering. I got nothing back in terms of feedback about yes we got the order, we shipped it. I have no complaints about them, they have responded to my questions in email quickly, and the wood was beautiful. That not knowing aspect, in todays world of automatic acknowledgements frustrated me. Admittedly it's been a while since I ordered, life got in the way there too.
  2. My last order from Ocooch Hardwoods was like that. It came, fairly quickly, but ...
  3. another option https://www.amazon.com/DuraSand-Sanding-Twigs-Models-Discounts/dp/B00G13A7F8/ref=pd_cp_469_3?pd_rd_w=MsxLU&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=8WZ3FJTG4GK7HJY9Z27D&pd_rd_r=8dafbd26-0a8a-11e9-8589-1d2b1f88d95b&pd_rd_wg=trxZf&pd_rd_i=B00G13A7F8&psc=1&refRID=8WZ3FJTG4GK7HJY9Z27D
  4. awesome work
  5. So Santa brings me a new office desk chair, out with the old as they say. Out in this case is my shop, I was already sitting on a stool, fairly high stool that positioned me so that my elbows were just slightly higher than the scroll table. This old office chair will not go that high, elbows are below the saw table, decided to tr it anyway. Danged it I did not find it easier to control the wood being cut. So now I am curious, when you are at the saw, are your elbows below, even with, or above the saw table?
  6. That is what I used to do, then I can't find the paper when I need it, or I can't find the template in the file system - its not one thing or another it seems
  7. Nice cutting Pegasus makes several blade "models" The blades labeled modified geometry is the one most of us like the best, and IMO a #1 blade is really small. I use a #3, low speed, to cut 1/8 BB actually a #3 is my go to blade all the time (so far)
  8. Hey Gonzo, that was cute, we have an Osage in Texas too, of course it is a ghost town now but still on the map
  9. Thanks to all for the thoughts Until I was reading I did not know there was 1/2 inch bits, Dads was 1/4 and it worked - like I said light to moderate use obviosly. Jim
  10. Good luck, I'll be watching too for your reviews. This is kind of like new truck fever, it better not be too contagious [smile] Jim
  11. I was doing some router work, started smelling electrical insulation, finished and took a look. The cord is shot, bare wires, all three colors. So I take it off the table and start taking it apart thinking to replace the power cord. I can not get it apart!! Craftsman power unit, Model 315-25050 made in 1956 according to the data plate. I like the table mounted router unit, but looking around Amazon I see a couple that look like you can move the motor to the table or use as a hand held. like: https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Combination-Horsepower-Variable-1617EVSPK/dp/B00005RHPD?ref_=Oct_BSellerC_552866_0&pf_rd_p=97c8d7ae-9852-5fc1-a63e-d697a050b7a1&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=552866&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=7NB35F2VH5A016QW9B50&pf_rd_r=7NB35F2VH5A016QW9B50&pf_rd_p=97c8d7ae-9852-5fc1-a63e-d697a050b7a1 or https://www.amazon.com/Makita-RT0701CX7-1-1-Compact-Router/dp/B00HAQMHEO?ref_=Oct_BSellerC_552866_2&pf_rd_p=97c8d7ae-9852-5fc1-a63e-d697a050b7a1&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=552866&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=7NB35F2VH5A016QW9B50&pf_rd_r=7NB35F2VH5A016QW9B50&pf_rd_p=97c8d7ae-9852-5fc1-a63e-d697a050b7a1 BUT I am not stuck on that flexibility either, never had it up to now. Recommendations? Light to moderate use I guess, kind of hard to quantify that kind of thing Jim
  12. Anyone sure as to what it is? My son brought over a root ball wondering if I could use it Jim
  13. and if you do not know the song
  14. I would try a florescent light color that Grandma likes, and only put it behind the fretwork
  15. I have always had an issue choosing fonts, no matter what I do to the font directory I can not seem to sort them by my likes. And there are so many I will never use, even hiding them does not remove them from some programs. I stumbled on this free (I like free) utility. It allows you to create font collections, click the collection and only those fonts you put there are up for viewing. At least that way I can see the name and find it easily in other software. When you open it ... Second choice down on the left is "Collection" right click on it and create new ones The top left choice is "Installed" click that and all installed fonts show as a listing on the right, click one of those fonts and use the mouse scroll wheel to scroll down. Find the one you want and drag it to the collection title you set up. It helps me, hopefully it might help someone else. Nexusfont https://download.cnet.com/NexusFont/3000-2316_4-10861616.html
  16. @ Paul, Ray, & Flarud I stuck the red tube from the nozzle up under the shroud where the upper arm pivots, and also sprayed the arms that hold the blade holder. Raising and lowering the upper arm was not really an issue, just felt like it was kind of dragging. I expect over spray hit everything else in there, I did not take it apart. I said smoothed out dramatically, I honestly never noticed any kind of degradation in performance, that kind of thing grows on you as time goes by I think. Sprayed and ran the saw with blade but not cutting, maybe 2 minutes I could feel a difference, when I started cutting later on, just felt so much better. Jim
  17. A while back someone recommended Mr Blaster spray lube, Picked some up and it works like a champ, thanks for the recommendation. Smoothed out the EX dramatically
  18. Seems to me that you know what you want took me forever to have the Hawk grow on me and now I don't really like any of my other saws, all the rest, while interesting, is moot pull the trigger is my vote
  19. 12 and 21 trip my trigger beautiful work
  20. Thanks for this Jerry, I need practice and I am not creative at all. And obviously looking at this effort - I need a lot more practice [smile] I doubt it is scroll sawable with the lettering so close together, even if you cut inside the red lines, but thanks again. Jim EDIT: So the first image is a png file cause that is all inksscape exports to when I click on it to show the pic here in the community forum, it displays a black background ???? I loaded the png into PS, and saved as a jpg, that should display correctly
  21. Scrappile, I agree with you, the first thing I thought is ahh shoot another belt change - I hate it when I have to change belt position on the drill press. But watching the video it appears to be an o-ring type belt, as opposed to the v-belt on the drill press, sure looks easier. Jim
  22. save the attached file, right click select install I know the file name is different, I can not explain that, it does install scrollsoni ScrollBD.ttf
  23. well shoot I obviously downloaded the font at one time or another, since I have it as a true type font installed, but darned if I can find it. attached is it I think, a truetype font scrollstencil.ttf
  24. the attached pdf is fonts I use, each in their names, search for each you will find them fonts.pdf
  25. more aggressive, is that after you set the EX up? adjusting the motor for front to back blade motion, etc etc Or was it more like me, get it home, plug her in, let's do it - ROFL
