  1. Thanks all for the comments.
  2. Thanks, Steve, the grain of the Ash really shows. Cliff, BLO stands for Boiled Linseed Oil. I use it with Mineral Spirits at 50%.
  3. Thanks Kevin. It is on display at ArtCrafters, but if it doesn't sell, I will give it to my wife Dianne. September 3rd is our 50th anniversary.
  4. This project was finished on Monday, June 27th. The pattern is by Sheila Landry and purchased from her website. I used 1/2" Ash with nice grain. The blade used was FD UR #3. One coat of 50% BLO and one coat of spray Shellac. Comments welcome.
  5. I finished this on the weekend. The pattern is by Paul Boer and found in CWWC August 2011. I used 1/2" Mahogany for the upright and I thought 3/4" Walnut for the base. After applying 50% BLO, the base came out very red. It must be Bloodwood. I used FD UR #3 for most of the cuts and FD UR #5 for the veining and exterior. Finished with one coat of 50% BLO and one coat spray Shellac. Comments welcome.
  6. You are now the birdhouse man, Kevin. Keep up the good work.
  7. A wonderful story. Scrollers are a great group of people.
  8. Welcome to the forum from TN. When you get time, show pictures of your projects.
  9. I don't remember what got me started. I bought a Hitachi from Lowe's and returned it within a week. The bought a DeWalt online. My first project was a Christmas ornament. It is still hanging above the bench. What a difference practice, practice, and practice makes.
  10. Well done, Steve. The blue backing is just right.
  11. A great way to show your talents. I am sure you got some wonderful comments.
  12. Wow, Dan, you have sure been busy. They all look great.
  13. We own a store in Dayton TN, ArtCrafters. Our main business is Custom Framing, but we also have art and craft on consignment by local artists and crafters. Works very well for us.
  14. I use the FD Polar blades for compound cutting because they seem to eliminate the dust collecting therefore the binding.
  15. Very nice pattern and cutting.
  16. Very well done. Glad you posted.
  17. Wow, that looks great dick, and nice frame too. When I first saw the topic, I thought 'Paper Cuts' and I get thoses all the time.
  18. Thanks gor the comments guys.
  19. Dick, glad I got your interest peaked. Give compound cutting a try.
  20. Ralph, I have not sold any of the Standing Miniature Birdhouses yet, but I just sold three of the hanging ones.
  21. Thanks Edward and Bob. No, I cut them as sized on the pattern. The smallest is 3 1/2" and the tallest is 5".
  22. Thanks Dave and Dan. I did not have any 3/4" Hard Maple, so I used the Red Oak.
  23. That was sure a challenge and you did a wonderful job.
  24. Thanks Jim. No talent for painting here, so I will leave them plain. Polar blades are aggressive, so you have to let the blade do the cutting.
  25. Thanks Ralph. Not sure if they will sell, but someone mentioned they would look great on a window sill.
