  1. I have a Delta unisaw 5hp great saw and wouldn't trade it. I use a sawstop at the woodworking club shop and like it. If you can afford it get the sawstop you will be happy. I think Johnson's Workbench would be your best bet, wait till they some offer to go with your purchase. Good luck on your decision.
  2. In the ft Wayne Indiana area we have three lowes north, south and central. It's amazing that the prices on some items is cheaper at the on that is harder to get too. Now that they are going to carry craftsmen tools I will have to make to shop there.(lol)
  3. I like the shot of the dust collection looks good. I need to do something like that for my saw.
  4. Awesome box! Great job.
  5. Hearing or lungs I will take lungs since my hearing is greatly reduced. I do wear hearing protection to keep what is left.
  6. Saws follow you home when you leave a trail of wood scraps to your house.
  7. I like my pegas clamps. Jet should offer them as an option they might sell more saws.
  8. I had a similar problem with my Delta 40-694. You have to take it apart to get to the bolts in the back. I tightened my motor and have had no problems since. Apparently the guy tightening the bolts got tired and let a few through. Watch Gwinnett woodworks video on the Dewalt repair and your good to go.
  9. +1 on ocooch my friend orders from them a say the Baltic birch is good stuff. I get mine from Johnson's Workbench in Charlotte MI it is an 80 mile drive but worth it. I spend $20 on gas and save $25 dollars on one sheet. I try to buy at least 5 sheets on a trip. The Baltic birch they carry is awesome.
  10. I have the menards version it works great. I need to clean the filter more often. It is worth the investment for cleaner air.
  11. My garage is 30x33 and I use everything but where my wife parks her car. I heat it with a bigmaxx 50,000btu natural gas furnace at 68 to 70 degrees all winter. I have r19 in the walls and r30 in the ceiling. It cost around $120 extra a year on the gas bill. I spend all day out there except the days hosting at the club shop, normally that is 1 four shift a week.
  12. I put an air cleaner two years ago and it's amazing how much dust it collects. I think you will notice the difference in air quality.
  13. Awesome looking project! I have no idea on finish.
  14. A box would be ideal for your inlay. I also want to give intarsia a try someday soon. My kitchen cabinets take top priority the wife wants them done by the middle of November. It took me 6 weeks when I built them the last time with so so equipment. This time I am going on four years 3 1/2 to get started and about 8 weeks of actual work. My wife can't understand why it is taking a long time.
  15. I use the fence on the right side 99% of the time. I have 16" on the left and 55" on the right. Probably habit and ripping plywood keeps the fence on the right.
  16. I had a craftsman 10” contractor saw, hated it and gave it away. I now have a 5hp delta unisaw. Teaching woodworking and using the powermatic tablesaw I just dislike anything that is not up to par. To answer your question belt drive beats direct drive any day.
  17. I gave my son my ridgid 10" miter saw because I never use it. I have a radial arm saw that is my saw for cutting boards to length. I use my table saw for everything else.
  18. It is always a great day when you can fix things yourself. Sometimes the so-called professional doesn't have a clue on the easy fixes.
  19. I bet you can't wait to get home sweet home. Good luck with your recovery efforts.
  20. Great job! The Apple clock should go around Christmas time. An apple for the teacher is always a good gift.
  21. Wow! looks like you might have dodged a bullit on some serious damage. Let’s hope the pictures and your neighbors report are accurate.
  22. I wish the best and hope you can recover from any damages as soon as possible.
  23. He is 11 and set there for an hour and 30 minutes. He stopped in today and said he will see me tonight before football practice. Steve Good just posted a great kids project yesterday. It is a rubber band gun it should be great because a gun is what he was freehanding.
  24. My grandson was bored and he was with me in the garage so I had him use the scroll saw and he loves it. I might have s future scroll saw artist if he stays interested.
  25. It always the case a good deal comes along after you spend money. I am sure the wood you got this weekend at the Expo is good stuff. Sometimes the wood that been in storage is not the best there maybe some great pieces but also some duds. I spent too much at the expo as well. I got Baltic birch plywood, exotic wood and some accessories for my shop.
