  1. I used 1/4 inch cherry. I didn't count the number of pieces just guessing I would say around 75 to 100
  2. Took two and a half months 2 cans spray glue, 1 roll blue tape and I lost count on how many blades. It has mistakes in it but I think it turned out pretty good. Still have to add the movement.
  3. The226 I bought new in 96 the 220 I bought about a month ago used. I bought it for a spare. The 226 is 24 years old but still going strong. The clocks aren't that bad to make just takes lots of time and patience. I started on this clock in the middle of May and I should have it done by labor day I hope.
  4. Gotta have time for fishing too. I do like building those clocks. I just ordered the Roman cathedral plans so I won't go to far from the Hawks.
  5. Carl I have 2 hawks a 26 and a 20. I've been scrolling since 96 time for something different for a while. The Laguna I bought is a midi not full size. I'm like you hoping to do both when I retire next spring.
  6. Always wanted to try my hand at the lathe so I bought a Laguna 1216 a week ago. As soon as I finish the Apostle clock I'm working on I'm going to try my hand at bowls and pens on the lathe. I will post pictures of the clock when I'm done with it. Heres a picture of it almost done. Just have the 3 towers on top and some trim to put on it and its done.
  7. Did you try it without the foot pedal? Maybe the foot pedal is going bad. Just a thought.
  8. I have had my 226vs for 24 years. Never had that problem. Could be the variable speed controller is going bad. You could try calling Bushton and see what they say. They have been answering my emails within a day.
  9. Thanks for your opinion on the saw Kevin.
  10. How do you like the BM 226 by now?
  11. I bought my 226 ultra in July of 1996 brand new and its serial number is 5???.
  12. I would assume the 226 and 220 had different serial number ranges.
  13. No it's the square style blade holders. All size blades from #2 To 12 I emailed Bushton with the serial number and they got right back to me. It was made in 1999 so it was older than I thought. I don't think it has had much use though.
  14. Heres a couple of pictures all cleaned up. It's not an RBI Hawk it just says Hawk on it so I'm assuming its it's not that old. Serial number 36774. I did some cutting on it and it is very smooth throughout the speed range once I got everything tightened up and level. It came with a foot switch so I thought I would try it. It will take some getting use too but I kinda liked it.
  15. I already have a 226 ultra my wife wants to learn so I bought this 220 for her
  16. I found this slightly used 10 year old 220vs Ultra on Facebook market place about 1 1/2 hours from me. Went and looked at it today and it followed me home. Got it for 300 dollars. Will post pictures when I get it cleaned up. It was really dirty from sitting but everything worked fine. Got about 10 dozen blades too.
  17. I have never used a foot switch and probably never will. I mounted a light switch on the front leg of my Hawk right by my right knee when I'm sitting. All I do is drop my right hand to my knee and the switch is right there. I never liked where rbi mounted the on off switch. It's too far back for me when sitting.
  18. I 40 is way south of here down in Arkansas. I don't think I would be interested at 550 anyways. Thanks for your time Ray and good luck on your move. Dale
  19. Thanks for getting back to me but at 550 plus shipping I would have to much money in it. Keep me posted if you come this way. I live in southeast Iowa close to the Missouri border and the Mississippi river. I'm not in any hurry my 226 is still running okay. Thanks. Dale .
  20. Ray if you decide to sell the 226 would you ship it to Iowa. I'm looking for another one but there isn't any around here. I would pay for shipping and your time to ship it. PM me if you would be willing to do that. Thanks Dale.
  21. I tried the aggressive position one time on my 226 vs ultra didn't care for the way it cut.
  22. I've had mine for 24 years 226vs. Bought it brand new in 96. It's been a good saw and its had a lot of use. The notch is starting to show some wear. The only thing I have had to replace on it was the spring that holds the arm up. I would like to get a new Hawk but am a little leery of Bushton and their customer service right now.
  23. I knew when I posted this that Wylie and the Roadrunner would be mentioned somewhere along the line.
  24. I'm going to be in the market for a lathe in the next few months so I think I will check them out.
  25. Anyone had any dealings with them? They have a store about 2 hours from me.
