  1. My 27 year old RBI 226vs is starting to show some wear. Been having trouble keeping tension on blade so I started checking things over and noticed the wedge on tensioning rod was rounded over on the point that sits in the arm. Its supposed to be a sharp point. Ordered a new wedge from Bushton on Sat and got in the mail yesterday. Put it on today And didn't have any trouble with keeping tension. I thought that was fast service and they even enclosed a note wishing Happy Halloween.
  2. My 226vs is serial number 5135 and I bought it new in 1996.
  3. made this for my oldest grandson. It’s a Popiel pocket fisherman we bought for him when he was younger as a gag Xmas gift. He caught a lot of fish with it. It finally gave up when he caught a bigger bass with it.
  4. I went to a battery trimmer last year. I really like it but I can’t do my whole yard on one battery. I have to recharge it to do the whole yard. Still have a gas chainsaw just a smaller one. Gave the big ol’ Stihl I had to my son so I still have access to it if I need it.
  5. Here is the pictures of the side and back. The top hole is the access hole for the movement and the bottom hole is if you want to put a light in it.
  6. I agree with you Dick my kids don’t really want them and we are out of room here so I’m not going to make any more unless someone asks me to. Another problem with them is dusting them. They are hard to dust. In the winter time I will take a small brush and some Howard’s feed and wax and go over the whole clock when my wife tells me they need dusted.
  7. I like that it’s beautiful
  8. It was 1 1/2 thick
  9. I made the whole clock out of a 6foot long and 8 inch wide piece of cherry and a few off cuts from other projects. I did a lot of resawing on the bandsaw.
  10. I tried to sell the top one in the picture above for $800 and didn’t have any takers. People here in Iowa won’t pay that kinda money for a clock.
  11. I used spray poly after I assembled it
  12. here are the other 2 clocks I have made
  13. I have been working on it since The middle of May off and on whenever I had time. I used Pegas #3 Rev. I am keeping it for now but this is the third and final clock I'm going to make. One of my kids will probably end up with one of them because we are out of display room.
  14. my version of the Chimes of Normandy. I left a few things off that I thought weren’t necessary. 1756 holes drilled and only a dozen blades. Made out of quarter inch cherry.
  15. The link worked for me
  16. I get a sinus infection every time I work with walnut. I have a fan with a filter on it that sucks the dust away from me.
  17. This is my shop buddy Rose cooling off on the cement of my shop. She likes to come in and steal the cutouts when they fall on the floor and chew on them.
  18. The ones I have made were not cut at an angle and were fairly easy to make.
  19. My 1996 226vs came with the shelf kit. When I bought my 220vs a couple of years ago I went to the web site to order the shelf kit it wasn’t there. I still haven’t got around to making my own.
  20. My old Hawk will vibrate if I turn it all the way up but I never cut up that high so it’s not a problem for me.
  21. I finally raised the backend of my Hawk after seeing many do it with their saws. My neck didn’t hurt when I was done sawing like it usually does. Wished I had done it a long time ago.
  22. Thanks Bob I think that’s what I need to try
  23. Thanks for the reply Ray. I thought about the bandsaw but didn’t know if I could get them cut square. I guess I’ll try it because I have a lot more to cut to finish the clock.
  24. I am making this clock and I’m having trouble cutting the small pieces to size before I cut the scroll work. I have been using my miter saw but I’m afraid I’m going to lose a finger doing it with the miter saw. How do you guys cut really small pieces? I’m talking an inch wide by two inches long and some are smaller than that. Thanks
