  1. Ahhhh, never thought of tape to clamp them together... That would certainly accomplish the task, thanks for that. The triangular or diamond shaped ones re nice Thanks
  2. Thanks! It is a bunch of fun to do these little guys, although I am sure a few of my neighbors are not as fond... Lots of noise with the detail sander....
  3. Thanks len
  4. thanks folks, Katie I simply take a small piece of wood and then that becomes the base or starting point and then I just cut it in two horiz, vert or diagonal and then start to take small pieces and add them in with Titebond 3. Often times the hardest part is clamping them, specifically if it is diagonal and in many cases I make those main parts much larger and with two perpendicular edges that are used to clamp and then are just sanded away to form the desired shape. which ones in particular do you like?
  5. thanks folks, my 5 year old son wanted to count them when I was putting them away in a ziplock. 174 of them, he says some look like the fancy chocolates that we consume around christmas time...LOL
  6. most are 3-5 mm thick, some up to 1.3 mm thanks, they look even better in person and in good lighting
  7. I got on a kick about 8 months ago and made these pendants. They are so much fun to make and a great way to use up your scraps. I string then up with black hemp cord and twist clasps mostly although some want magnetic. Gonna source out small little "rivet" like brass/silver/gold pieces to put in the holes to make them look even better. These are proving to be popular, I wear different necklaces everyday... Pics of the lot, then 7 of so pics a bit closer up and the a pic of some close up
  8. I wanted a thread started for the reverie in the scroll saw review section which Travis has done. I just posted a thread here cause I could not find a way to contact a moderator who are the only ones that can start a thread in that section....
  9. great idea, I have struggled edge glueing thin stock and now I can try this. well done and thanks for sharing!
  10. Travis, no rush I am heading off for a weeks vacation tomorrow... Scrappile, so far I am very impressed, can't wait to actually get to do so new stuff on it, specifically using the tilting head such as vases, bowls etc.
  11. Hi, Can't seem to figure out how to get hold of a moderator on this site. I now have my king/excelsior 30 and as part of a deal I struck with King Canada I will be doing a blog review on it over the next couple months. I would like the mods to create a new thread for the review of the saw! And my early impressions of the saw are extremely favourable, I have cut a few pieces on it and its a joy to operate! thanks
  12. Incredible detail
  13. okay, the next one I make from the start I will document with steps and photos....
  14. Thanks, I can give you some tips of how I am making them
  15. So I have fixed the shape of these bracelets, I now have templates for different sizes also. Here are a couple of my latest. I absolutely love the end grain one. I have made about two dozen so far. What is frustrating is that some veneers won't bond as I presume that spieces of wood requires a certain type of glue... Photos also do not do these justice, they look much better on person

I get lots of requests for these.
  20. I posted the finished product above.
  21. I posted some pics as requested although they are a bit dark
  22. Here are some pics, got to do some research on filters now, this thing has two speeds low and high and when its on high it really pulls the air. The squirrel motor inside is big and powerful and even on high its quiet. The 3rd pic is an old furnace filter i put on there until I find another solution/get a filter that fits/make my own filter or alter the back somehow to accommodate a full sheet filter. The fourth pic is the exit with no filter on it.
  23. ya I was giong to drop close to a C note but a trade for one of my 45+ pieces clogging up my basement is a much better score...and I can tell the difference already, makes the air much cleaner as I strapped an old furnace filter to the back side of it with bunji cords....did a bunch of table saw work and lets just say that I took the filer off and it was shocked as to how much dust was trapped in the filter when I knocked it against the compost bin. next up a dust collector that is not to big....
  24. thanks mate!
