  1. seems I am one of the only people not cutting puzzles, I love the detail in the bottom part of the puzzle. Kevin that is some great detail there in the grill
  2. awesome work, great detail!
  3. Thanks folks, there were a few covered bridges where I grew up in Ontario, they are worth while setting but are becoming rare to find

    Swirl

This was a real challenge, I did not think I was going to get through parts of it with the repurposed ash 3/4 inch flooring intact
  5. Finally got round to finishing this one
  6. The large tree is 12x4, both frames are identical size
  7. They are 3/4 thick, that is why they look 3d. Pretty much all my pieces are 3/4 for that reason and the fact that 95%of my material is free and repurposed
  8. I guess it's not an optical illusion...
  9. I make lots of these, they are popular. These are cut from asain acacia engineered flooring samples
  10. Don't know what to call this but I like how it turned out
  11. Frank, have you ever tried this with old CDs,DVDs?
  12. too funny, I go to Winners (its like TJMaxx) here in Vancouver Canada and look for cutting boards and odds and ends made of wood from time to time get some good stuff. Have not found olive wood cheap enough yet though...
  13. ya seems olsen has flat end spirals in 4 & 6 and one other as i recall. yes I got likely the deal of a lifetime on the buy...it was: dewalt 788 type 1 300+ blades old school table top band saw custom modified offset drill press for ease of drilling pilot holes into scrolling projects (this was likely the most valuable and useful piece in this package) a floor magnifier/lamp all for the tidy sum of $250. Canadian.... The only thing I have left from that package is the drill press and the blades left; sold the band saw, dewalt for upgrades (and I got more than $250 for them...) Magnifyer broke after about 8 months
  14. seems the Pegas mod geometry would be the way to go as a compromise and a middle ground for economics and performance. I use almost exclusively hardwoods and normally 1/2- 1 inch thick so this is informative thanks
  15. Hey frank, I need to make a blade order (first time I am going to buy blades, I got into this hobby when I bought saw that came with 300+ blades) I have not minded spirals and as a matter of fact think I may start using the more so as they can be a time saver for certain projects. The spiral blades I have used did not have flat ends and I think that caused problems with clamping as a result I am thinking of only ordering flat end spirals but there seem to be limited size options as opposed to the non flat end spirals. Any feedback on the non and flat end spirals?
  16. Are you scrolling or routing the notches in the stand? They look great, my wife and son could use one, perhaps I will make one for them
  17. great stuff Frank! I like the black one best. I too like someone above have to ask, why must it be a spiral? My guess is cause a normal blade will chew up the vinyl? I am planning to try vinyl soon...I am intrigued by it.
  18. are they clicking together? I find this fascinating great stuff
  19. holy crap, what size are those words? awesome work

    Celtics

Made this Boston Celtics silhouette logo for my son, they are his second favorite team. Lighting is poor that is why it looks a bit dark Golden state is number one so I am going to give the golden gate bridge logo a go....
  21. very nice Dave! both the piece and the reason why....
  22. Yes I like the green and only because there is enough wide open or larger spaces to actually see that it is green, if there were not those spaces you may as well doit black as the green would not show through where there is so much detail.... 40 hours hey...that is just a wonderful piece of art. I would mount it on the green and they see what may look good as a frame.... Is that 1/2 inch thick? What species?
  23. incredible detail and honestly likely the best scroll saw portrait pattern that I have ever seen.
  24. lets see what green would look like, that is incredible detail, must have taken a lot of patience. its stunning
