  1. Thanks to @Fab4 for the help on this piece for my grandson’s new music themed bedroom. 12” diameter.
  2. I love those! Hope you’re feeling better.
  3. Beautiful project, Paul. I’m afraid I need a swear jar in my shop.
  4. Thank you! I did the pattern. Sent you a PM.
  5. Thank you! I rewatched it last night.
  6. Tom Selleck, as Matthew Quigley, from Quigley Down Under. If you don’t know why it says “Roy” you should watch the movie. Unlike me and Tom, it has aged well. Cut in 1/2” white oak. About 7” x 8”.
  7. Beautiful job and unique as always. Love the Dogwood flowers.
  8. Thanks so much for the kind words!
  9. Thanks, Rick. The right piece of wood can make all the difference.
  10. Thank you, Rodney. My scroll saw time has been a bit limited also. I slip in some time here and there for therapy. You’ve definitely got your priorities in proper order. Caring for your elderly mom is noble work.
  11. Thank you. I agree. He’s got the look, the voice, and the talent. Robert Duvall was in that list as well.

    Sam!

Woke up feeling like cutting something on a cold Alabama day. Can’t go wrong with Sam Elliott. Found a cool piece of oak on the shelf that I thought fit the character very well.
  13. Wow. Beautiful!
  14. I love those. Makes me think of Mayberry.
  15. Thanks! Yes, after two carpal tunnel surgeries along with three trigger finger releases my hands are back to normal.
  16. This was my haul that day. I used the bamboo cutting board for a Mike Rowe portrait. I really like the hand carved Tiki statue.
  17. This was my haul that day. I really like the hand carved Tiki statue.
  18. I picked up this piece of wood for $3 at a thrift store. It was a laser engraved plaque. I planed the engraving off and it worked beautifully for this pattern.
  19. I love this guy and his message on trade jobs. I had a college degree in business but worked as a service mechanic for Alabama Natural Gas company for 30 years. My job was pretty dirty at times, working in crawl spaces, but I probably made a better living than if I’d used my degree. I’m also proud I my job was helping people by repairing heating, cooling, water heaters, gas lines, etc. rather than supervising guys that do. Cut in about 3/8” bamboo. First time cutting it and I like it
  20. Thank you, Dick. While I still enjoy making portraits I have really slowed down due to life’s more pressing issues. Hopefully the pendulum will swing back eventually and life will slow down again. Since most of my portraits never leave my shop I frequently question if there is any point in doing more. But I think this quote has some wise advice in it. “Practice any art . . . no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.” — Kurt Vonnegut
  21. Excellent work on that design!
  22. Had a fun opportunity today. Chauncey Leopardi, who played Squints in the movie Sandlot was in my town signing autographs today. I found out my grandson was going so I gave him this portrait I had cut a few years ago so he could have it signed. He was beyond excited. I went with him and it made my day when Chauncey/Squints took out his phone and took a picture of it before signing it. Now it’s hanging on my grandson’s wall rather than my dusty shop.
  23. Thank you. As a matter of fact, after sanding this one I noticed a thin section of her ear had cracked and had to do just that. Thankfully nothing fell out
  24. I watched it just after she died. I don’t know how anybody could rest well in a tent in the jungle.
  25. Done in 1/2" red oak, around 9" x10".
