  1. That really is a beautiful piece, Paul. Excellent work! I still haven’t used spirals much but I can see that pattern was made for them.
  2. Love it! Nice work on two of my favorite characters!
  3. No problem. Just cut perfectly straight lines and do it twice rather than once. Fantastic work, Dave!
  4. Excellent! I like the pattern style very much!
  5. Thanks Paul. I did some research and it’s a 25 gram steel adhesive wheel weight. I only knew about the old kind you attached to the rim.
  6. I noticed a small rusty puce of metal in a parking lot yesterday and it just looked cool. I sanded one side smooth and made a necklace pendant for my grandson, Ryder. I used some mystery blades that came with my saw. I just sprayed a little clear coat on it and left the front side as is. He loves it. Wish I knew what the chunk of metal was. ***Did some looking and it’s a 25 gram steel adhesive tire weight
  7. That’s cute as can be! Great job and perfect wood choice!
  8. Very cute! Great job!
  9. Love that, Paul. Beautiful cutting!
  10. Outstanding work, Dave!
  11. I also made this “ring the pirate hooks” game and a “walk the planks” game where each plank gets progressively harder.
  12. Thanks, Barb. I’ve been able to do very little work in the shop lately, and I love making toys. So it was a fun day.
  13. Thanks, Tyler! High praise, coming from a Pirate!
  14. My grandson’s eighth birthday party is this weekend. It’s pirate themed and he requested I cut this Jack Sparrow portrait like I have on my shop wall. (Charles Dearing pattern) I made these Pirate Daggers for the invited kids. Made from beautifully free white oak from a pallet at Tractor Supply. I also found these cool Pirate silver dollar hobo coins and got one for each kid, plus one for me. Rrrrrrrrr.
  15. It's been a hot humid summer in Alabama. I have AC in the shop but I haven't been able to spend much time there in the last several months. Life's been busy.
  16. Beautiful job on a nice pattern!
  17. Thank you so much for the kind words. I don't sell patterns but you can find this one as well as a lot of others I've done in the New Patterns section of the Patterns forum. There are 3 pages of new pattern images and I have some on each page. Thanks again. If you have trouble finding one in particular I've done just send me a message. Thanks again.
  18. Love it. Thanks for the memory. I'd forgotten about that show.
  19. Time very well spent! I so love my grandkids.
  20. This is my favorite pattern that I've made. I made it and cut it a little over three years ago but I gave the cutting to the car salesman who sold me my truck last year. Unlike most times, I've regretted giving it away ever since. I've left his place on the wall vacant for a year. I finally got around to cutting it again but this time I went ahead and put my son's name on the back so I won't be tempted to give it away again. About 8" X 10" in 1/2" red oak.
  21. Thanks for the kind words, Dick.
  22. Thank you so much. Artistic compliments mean a lot coming from you.
  23. Thank you. The lyrics would have stood on their own as great poetry. Gordon was a great songwriter.
  24. It's been quite a while. So many things have kept me out of the shop. I finally got some time to play around a bit. The Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior 50 years ago this November claiming the lives of all 29 crew members. The lyric I put on this cutting may be my favorite of all time. The song says that the bell at the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral in Detroit rang 29 times for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. The day after Gordon Lightfoot died, it rang 30. The cutting is done on 1/2 red oak and is about 7" x 7". The backer is some old pine that I burnt with a torch. It came from an old cabinet in a house that used to belong to my mom. We are remodeling the house for my daughter, which is mostly what is keeping me out of the shop.
