  1. Beautiful piece, Barb!
  2. Beautiful work. I’m not a fan of making multiple cuts of the same thing either.
  3. One of the best things about our hobby, for me, is the ability to make meaningful, personalized gifts like this. Great job!!!
  4. Very nice. I feel like I know her personality from the picture.
  5. As always, any discrepancies between your cutting and the pattern are known only to you.
  6. Yes, thankfully we do get beautiful fall colors. We’re in a drought right now which may affect the colors/duration this year. I actually used a combination of oil based stains and water based dyes to get the color and covered it with clear semigloss spray enamel. I hang different things on this spot for different seasons/holidays. It’s out of the rain and gets almost no direct sun so everything has held up great so for several years now. It’s about 3’ x 4’. To make it I planed some old weathered pressure treated fence boards, cut one end on a 45, lined them up and drew the leaf pattern freehand and cut the leaf pattern on each board with the scroll saw. I used a Kregg pocket hole jig to join the boards along with one fence board down the middle on the back. It was fun to make it up as I went along with no real plan or pattern.
  7. Excellent job and I love the wood too. Great pattern!
  8. No fancy scrolling here but I like how it turned out. Plus it’s for my favorite time of year.
  9. Excellent job and I love the pattern. I just finished watching Band Of Brothers again. It’s about WWII where my uncle was killed. Nothing but respect and gratitude for those men.
  10. Nice job, Dick!
  11. Thank you, Marg. Slowly getting used to the new normal. We had a Labor Day get together yesterday and was saddened when I was counting up how many hamburger patties to make and briefly wondered if Amy was coming.
  12. Thank you, Tyler.
  13. Thank you, Rick. I'm sorry about your brother. My mom had Alzheimer's for the last two years of her life. Such a sad disease. Wonderful blessing to live near family!
  14. Happy piece! My favorite way back game was Red Rover.
  15. Great looking piece!!!
  16. Nice job. Good wood choice for a cabin!
  17. I like those! The kiddos will love them. Way to go!
  18. Thanks, Paul. I’m babysitting the grands next weekend while my son runs another interesting race. You have one hour to do a 4 mile trail run. At the beginning of the next hour it repeats and so on until the last man/woman is left. He’s just planning on about 50 miles worth but some people may run for a couple of days like that.
  19. Nice job and nice to hear from you, Kevin! Hope you’re doing well!
  20. My son is an avid runner, 5Ks, 10Ks, marathons, even does the occasional 100 miler. His kids are following in his “running steps” doing shorter 1 milers and one did a 5K. I made them some medal displays, and kept them generic so they can also hang medals from other sports or academic awards.
  21. Thank you, Dick. I cut another one yesterday, as I gave the first one to my daughter who was very close to my sister and Here Comes The Sun was my sister and my daughter’s favorite song. At the funeral, my sister’s daughter cried when she saw the plaque, plus her husband played the song during the service so I knew they’d appreciate one also. May have to cut more. In this case it’s an honor.
  22. Thanks for the compliment, but I’ve certainly never seen anything shabby about your work either.
  23. Great looking piece!
  24. Yes, my sister’s memory for our childhood was much better than mine. I’ve realized I have nobody to ask anymore.
  25. Thank you. One of those meant to be things I suppose. I made it the night before the funeral with the only board I had on hand that was wide enough. I noticed how well the grain worked also, but hadn’t really planned it.
