  1. Very nice, can I ask where you found those photo holders? I really like the wood burning phrases
  2. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Channukah! What ever your flavor!
  3. Glad I saw this post LOL - almost started to debug my monitor!!!
  4. Yeah, that went through my mind for an instant but I'm not a fan of painting my stuff and would have been stuck with a glob of paint left over LOL
  5. Customers request - not my idea LOL
  6. We do our best to talk customers out of coloring our products simply because what they envision and what the wood will take are often 2 different things. Water items, no problem since we do lots of them. Green pasture, no problem we do lots of them. However once in awhile we get an "unshakeable" customer and no matter what we say, they are adamant in their color scheme... This then is one of those customers. The "Matt Pan" shadow with Bronze hooks - all black except for the feather! It took 2 different stains to get the "purest" black we could... Thanks in advance for looking..
  7. I never really post anymore, but do my "like" thing nearly every day Since I am mostly making puzzles and the like these days, I figure everyone has pretty much seen them from others so need for me to bore anyone. I do post when I have something not puzzle related though but that has become very rare these days Anyway, still here, still doing our Saturday market and still working through puzzles, wall hangers and more Thanks for asking LOL
  8. He contacted me directly!
  9. I buy from both
  10. You all probably know this already, but for those of us not in the know... http://www.dndsawbladesonline.com/ is no longer, now he just sells blades here https://dndsawblades.com/ Hope that helps.
  11. As always very well done And btw, a group of snowmen is called: A melt of snowmen.
  12. I've bought my 45 from Amaz in the past since I get free shipping and my local box stores are priced crazy! Typically I would save up to $3 a can that way. Something has changed with 3m and either it is no longer making/shipping 45 or something else is happening (I'll leave that to the imagination, but I suspect it's the same place my bread and cheese are hiding these days as well)! I have 77 that I've been using and lots of the Elmers (not really a fan of elmers, it slips). I'll check out Ace though last time I bought 3m from Amaz it was $6.48 a can! $9.99 at my local Ace stores!
  13. Excellent! Love the snowman myself!
  14. Welcome The people here are nothing short of amazing and helpful - no better, friendlier forum anywhere! And I've been on most of them!
  15. Freakin'-INCREDIBLE! The diversity of portraits you have is nothing short of impressive and amazing I like so many of them, it inspires me to try one sometime! Thanks for sharing
  16. So you paint both the foreground and the background? Very well done!
  17. Thanks @Scrappile - it's really up to the customer what they want as the bottom text, but yes dates are good although many don't know or remember birth dates, specially if it's a rescue
  18. I feel for your loss and offer condolences to you and your family! Nice work! Pets are so hard to lose!
  19. My wife found a bunch of wood being thrown out, came home and got me and we loaded it up. Turns out it was pine, not a wood I use anymore so I let it sit and simmer for awhile. The other day, I started to break it down - I sanded down both sides (one side was completely rough and the other had some kind of shiny finish, maybe lacquer don't really know), cut into manageable sizes, remove any nails/screws etc. and as a welcome surprise, there were 10 led lights installed in some holes! Sweet! This must have been some kind of rec room lighting I think. Anyway... We've been asked to make a new product and using this reclaimed wood, I put together a new sample - Pet Urn. I have enough extra reclaimed wood to make about 6 or so more. Here is the finished sample product we're looking to release it this weekend. Duchess was one of our dogs who has passed and waiting for us. Thanks as always in advance Thanks as always in advance
  20. I don't sell a lot of them, but thanks to @kmmcrafts for providing the inserts on his website as well as information about the size, I can make them much easier now! It's nice they are getting noticed now on our table. Hopefully, we'll be making more as time passes. Thanks as always in advance
  21. For non puzzles, I use Krylon Triple Thick Clear Glaze. For the longest time on puzzles, I used spray shellac. However, recently I started to use the clear glaze on puzzles as well and it works just fine for me. Gives everything a nice shine, brings out the grain really well and i only have to buy one product LOL
  22. It's not you, it happens - specially noticeable with poplar! I've noticed this for a long time now but it hasn't always been so - IMO the blades have changed slightly. Not sure if it's the metal or the production, but when I first started cutting poplar I did not notice as much resistance cutting the grain. Then again, when I first started cutting poplar, I didn't know what the heck I was doing! LOL
  23. Question: I only a small Neje laser I use strictly for engraving. My question: As I understand, CNC and Laser cuts take far longer than scroll sawn items. Is this true? I know if I attempted to "cut" a puzzle with my small laser, it would take hours (probably a good 4-5 passes). A few notes to the OP... In my area, there are several "laser/cnc" vendors as well as an epoxy cutting board/charcuterie (SP?). They seem to do very well I guess, at least that's what they tell me. No one actually gives out numbers, just an "Yeah, had a good day today". Whatever that means! There is one other scroller at my weekly event, and he does portrait work, a few of those abstract clocks from the magazine. We both agreed not to do any of each others cuts at the same event and so far that has worked out well for us both. Hand made items do seem to sell better at our weekly events, although lately not so much. Yesterday, I heard more than I ever have the word "budget" over and over - a sign of the times for sure. I won't get into that... I agree, personalized items, of which we are the only ones at our weekly event that hand makes personalized items is a very big part of our business and I expect will continue to be so once they get us out of this recession and we start seeing lower prices all around. In the mean time, we did start selling xmas items in August. It seems in our area, there is/was a significant move to try and get their shopping done while they can afford items before the prices are too far out of reach. When asked about raising our prices, we explain we are making items slightly smaller to keep the price point the same. In fact, we show them the difference and no one can actually "see" the difference until we put the side by side! Bam - personalized item sold! So yes, I agree hand made personalized items are still a preferred item, it's just that people have far less disposable income at the moment.
  24. I don't do a lot of different "functional" items, but I do a lot of wall hangers LOL Here are a few of the functional items from our inventory and history Huh. pics not showing, only links. Is it me or do you all see the images?
