  1. Thanks, I'll take a look. Unfortunately, that may be the Coup de grâce for the saw LOL. I'm not very mechanically inclined.
  2. Are they colored or clear? I have a bunch of those as well, although mine are thinner - 1/4" I think. I'm hoping to make a dust control hood for my table saw. The rest I'm thinking of using as a zero insert for my miter saw, and a zero insert top for the scroll saw. If I have any left over, they will get used in frames some pieces yet to be identified
  3. Nice projects! Thanks for sharing them
  4. I know most of you don't have the Delta 40-694 saw, but I am wondering about maintenance on the machine. My machine is starting to make loud noises when cutting. I am cutting at a faster speed, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. But as I move a piece of wood through the blade it sounds to me like it is need of lubrication - kinda like a thump thump thump more than a metal on metal scraping - LOL if that means anything to anyone I've read the user manual several times and don't see any reference to having to oil or lubricate anything. In fact it says it is not needed as it is a sealed unit Does that sound correct or am i missing an entire section of the manual? I hope it's not wearing out already, but if it is I see a new Dewalt or something in my future LOL. And now that the wife enjoys scrolling there would be no problem funding it However, I do hope this is normal and I have a lot more hours worth on the Delta Thanks as always in advance
  5. That is very clever. Amazing what good crafts people come up with!
  6. Excellent! Thanks for sharing
  7. Good choice, Not sure what you are looking for in a printer, but there are some decent used or refurbished ones available. I only buy used b&w laser printers myself, since color are a real PITA. Here is my favorite, we're currently on our 2nd printer in 15 years: https://www.newegg.com/aim-refurbish-aimq5912a/p/1EE-00GJ-000A5?Description=refurbished hp printers 1022&cm_re=refurbished_hp printers 1022-_-9SIABZM7KR1768-_-Product
  8. I know there are many aspects/topics to scroll sawing. but one thing I find common among them is the term "Fun Cut". So I ask, what does that mean to you? How do you identify if a cut was "fun"? I think for me, a fun cut is any one I can get to final finishing without breaking is a "fun cut". However, my favorite thing to cut at the moment are Dragons. I really like cutting them! You? Thoughts? Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks all, Really appreciate all the advice. I have a torch and have used it - not very good with it as I sometimes burn the wood and yes it's mostly the fuzzies I'm trying to get out. I have several mops and have used them on my drill press and Guinevere. I agree the Guinevere really needs to be variable speed. I've tried to set up a my hand drill to use, but that just adds another tool and more dust somewhere I don't need. I put 2 mops on the Guinevere and have been using as gentle a touch as I can. Sanding is by far my least favorite activity. Even when I build other items I dread the sanding portion It's probably also why I'll never get to Intarsia
  10. That is sweet! I would keep that one. Big anything Beatles fan, specially Lennon.
  11. Very nice! I love the images in the letters - are those drawn free hand? Thanks for sharing
  12. Well done! Looks great!
  13. What grit mop are you using? 320 seems like it would be the preferred grit?
  14. Very nicely done - love the musical ones
  15. Very nicely done! I like em all!
  16. Nicely done - thanks for sharing it
  17. Best of luck with your move. It's a really nice area you're going to, lots to do.
  18. Yeah, it happens when sanding on the Guinever I have 2 mops on the Guinever.
  19. LOL - I kinda mixed them up to fit them on the board so yeah, I know some are backwards but they still spell correctly
  20. Just came across this thread thanks to @ike Thanks for the vid and thx for the update @ike!
  21. I finally got around to getting into the shop full time again. Well more full time than it has been anyway I bought a Poplar board this week and placed a bunch of patterns and cut a bunch of puzzles. Here are the current puzzle cuts (I still have 4 more to do) drying after a mineral oil bath: There's a: Hippo, Tiger, Horse, Dachshund, Labrador, Mermaid, Manatee and a Dolphin We've also started coloring bases for those puzzles that we cut them with, so this is the 3 water bases: We still need to seal the water bases with shellac - the food coloring comes off on your hands not sure why but shellac stops it/seals it Still need to color the ground bases - grassy color for the land animals I think I've officially become an "Iggy-ite" A big thanks to @Iguanadon for his videos, guidance and patience with my questions - Scott Rocks big time! Thanks as always in advance for reading
  22. Here's the break and a re-cut - I'm not good enough to make a re-cut that fits like the original So even though I re-cut this,I won't be using the re-cut
  23. I've been using Poplar. I'll have to find the piece I broke, I know I have it as I'm missing one of the stiles for the 'U' and I know it's in the shop somewhere Also, the dremel didn't work very well for me and the palm sander vibrates way too much I went back to the Guinever and am trying to be very careful but I can tell it's going to happen again... soon LOL
  24. I have a standing area for my larger sheets - ply and hard woods (which I cut down to a manageable size) in my shop/garage. I used to have a lumber cart I made that worked well to keep my wood "aired" but it got ruined during Hurricane Michael. Being in Florida we have substantial humidity variances up and down (today for example is not so bad, 3 days ago it had rained for 3 days in a row) For BB small sheets, I keep them in the box they came in and place them in the closet in the house. We keep the house pretty much at a constant humidity all year - 78 degrees all summer, and 68 degrees in winter. When I'm ready to cut a pattern using the BB, I attach the stack and place in the shop for a day or so to acclimate. For my 3/4 cuts, I stand the boards until I'm ready to pattern them which is usually within a day of getting them - I usually only buy 1 board at a time (7.5" x 6') that's about all I can find at one time worth buying LOL Once I have the patterns on, I stack them near the scroll bench and get to them at my leisure. This process works for me and keeps my wood for the most part warp/twist free My 1/4" & 1/2" ply sheets are the most susceptible to warping/twisting so I try not to keep sheets of that laying around
  25. I have yet to be able to re-use a pattern myself, but I like the spray template/ stencil idea
