  1. I love pics so I have no problem with pics of works in progress Besides, I think it shows many of us the pros and cons of some of the more difficult types of cuts. I know for me, I'm nowhere near ready to attempt a project such as that. However, if it were me, I would have printed all the images for the project at once so as not to have an issue with sizing
  2. One of my favorite projects is cutting puzzles - Fantasy, animal (dogs etc.). I also really like cutting plates - wildlife, professions I'm hoping to start trying toys soon as well. I tend to use Pegas #3 Reverse Skip blades for my puzzles on slow speed, about 1/2 on my Delta dial - thoughts? The puzzles I've mostly used pallet wood I've joined and some pine I had laying around. I've also used some left over maple from a shelving unit I made. The pallet wood works very well, the maple, being a bit harder is also harder to cut, the pine being so soft, not so much for puzzles. I was wondering what types of wood everyone prefers to cut these types of projects with - plates I tend to stack cut birch ply - usually I stack 2 or 3, 1/8". At least that is what I remember doing before my hiatus. Seems I have to learn a lot of this stuff all over again I'm nowhere near doing intarsia or any of its variants, those types of wood species are too far above my pay grade ATM. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for reading
  3. I don't use a 2nd bucket either - just the one 5 gal - works for me as it's part of rolling cart I made to move the shop vac and the DD around the shop as needed
  4. It's not finished yet, but I was so excited I actually got to cut something after 14 months of down time. What blade do you all use for these things - I used a Pegas Reverse Skip #3 Hopefully get it sanded, stained and coated today as well Thanks for looking
  5. I bought this awhile ago: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GZLCHM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Works great - Have lots of extra buckets from chlorine and for our pool and paint buckets etc
  6. Periodically I notice rust forming on the SS table even though I keep it waxed. After the hurricane, there was a tremendous amount of rust on the SS table, so much so that I thought it was completely ruined and I would have to replace it. I may still add it to my personal loss for insurance. I managed to clean it and thought I got it all. I think perhaps I did not get 100% of it, and it continues to come back periodically and I keep waxing and buffing. My drill press does get a bit of rust and I keep that oiled as well. My table saw holds up very well though - I keep it waxed as well but it also has a wooden cover I made for it - it is the only tool I really have that does not show signs of rust on the surface I'm in Florida, so rust I think is expected - plus my shop is in my garage - no air control in there at all except the dust collection stuff
  7. I love trains - that's a great looking cut - thanks for sharing it
  8. I am so bad at routing - it's one of my current banes in woodworking Are the bits new? If not it could be a dull bit, but it looks more like chatter to me - slowing and not going smoothly around the edge. Interested to read what others respond with
  9. Agreed with your sentiments - I consider myself very lucky to have found such an open and welcoming forum!
  10. Thanks for the info - got it! I tried to do my own lettering but of course - I failed miserably LOL
  11. @Iguanadon I'd like to get some puzzles with our local areas- how do I get in touch with "harvey"? Thanks in advance
  12. Yah, I have a sub and agree more Intarsia these days - I still like getting some of the patterns though - like the x-mas tree and the other puzzles in this mag. Also like the toy patterns
  13. Sweet - thanks for sharing
  14. Great job and thanks for sharing... Aren't those records collectible?
  15. Where did you get those? I have a wen as well as a delta but would like to be able to use both for different projects - looks like those would help to use the same blades on both machines
  16. I use both a dremel drill and stand (for the smallest pilot holes) as well as a Wen table top drill for larger projects. I have very tiny drill bits for the dremel as well as an adapter for larger bits - both work great
  17. I did this a few years ago to cool off my garage. I used pvc and plastic - I did a 26' section across my garage floor to ceiling with a pvc door. Worked really well - I was able to remove/deconstruct the wall and put it away for the following year. Unfortunately, a hurricane through and ripped my house and garage apart and I no longer need the wall since I installed window a/c.
  18. great tips - thanks for sharing them
  19. I'm 5'8, I have the Delta My Workstation is 36" to the top of the work surface
  20. I use that chair - I like it so much, that I showed it to the wife, and she bought one for her work station. They're really comfortable and perfect height for us What I really like about it is the height of the foot rests.
  21. Great idea - I'm going to be including a business card as well with mine
  22. A favorite comic of mine! Thx for sharing it
  23. I do exactly the same - I built a small wall cabinet that sits on top of one of freezers in the garage and that is where I store my puzzles and shrink wrapped items
  24. My 2nd all time favorite band! Thanks for sharing that! Any chance of getting a similar pattern from their early days? Queen II for example
  25. I have quite a bit of lumber on hand these days. From pallet wood, to sheets of birch, to a nice collection of hard and soft woods I'm still afraid of ruining if I attempt something with them LOL My pallet wood stock pile is more than enough for at least another 2-3 years worth of scrolling and/or projects.
