  1. Aspen? Not sure I know what that is
  2. I use food dyes and some color dyes to color my puzzles because i've found if I use paint, the pieces won't fit after they've been painted. I'm now in need of a white recommendation if anyone has used any of dyes with success. I don't seem to have any, and before I order some "brightener/white wash" thought I'd see if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks as always in advance.
  3. Just a heads up about this product Evapo Rust... Thanks to Hurricane Michael, many of my tools, including my table saw, scroll saw as well as the blades in some of my tubes, and power tools all had a layer of rust settle on them. I put some Evapo Rust on rag, and wiped down the power tools, soaked my scroll blades in a tube filled with the liquid, wiped down the table tops and the rust layer disappeared within minutes. I was then able to wax my tools and all looks like new again, the blades are none for the wear and my table tops all shine and wood slides right off them whee! Good product this Evapo Rust which can be purchased at HF. Hope that helps anyone else with a rust problem

  6. Great looking stuff Lew - well done as always!
  7. I have not - do you have a link of what you're describing = I see the one Jim posted on amazon
  8. A few Unifinished puzzle cuts - I need to get a finish on them maybe this weekend or next week. Heck, at least I finally cut something... It's been 5 months since I last even looked at my Delta I forgot how much I don't know LOL and how much technique there is to this!
  9. Believe it or not Bob, yes - HOWEVER, what is occurring here is the insurance company is willing to pay for my repairs, but the lender that holds my mortgage DiTech is NOT willing to forward the funds they've already been paid by the insurance company! I've signed a formal complaint with the Attorney General of Florida regarding the lies, deceit and lack of "doing business in good faith". I received an acknowledgement today from the Attorney General they have sent my complaint to DiTech and are DEMANDING a written response to my accusations! So we'll see how it goes - unfortunately, I've had to use my retirement funds to fund the repairs to my house and am now out of money. But, it's all good, because they're not going to win this war.. I am!
  10. I don't find it so bad actually - there's an old adage in teaching - "first learned, first remembered". I pretty much learned from the beginning to turn it off, raise the arm and put my stop block under it and reposition as necessary
  11. Very nice - thanks for sharing
  12. I've yet to use a foot switch myself - I tried one when I first started but it wasn't conducive to how I work so I returned it. Maybe I'll revisit it one day
  13. Hello all, Since Hurricane Michael decimated my area as well as my house and shop, I've had zero time to do anything other than play general contractor. I've finally got: The wall of my garage rebuilt My garage door re-installed My finishing bench cleared of debris My pegboard re-installed for the finishing bench My tools hung back up in their proper place My storage building emptied and ready to be re-positioned on its foundation My dust collection system re-installed My saw tops (scroll saw and table saw) de-rusted and waxed And FINALLY my finishing table setup and ready for finishing! I was hoping to start cutting again this week, I manage to put a finish on one of my puzzles however and that my friends is a step in the right direction to getting back to the business of learning to scroll... Again LOL It's amazing how much you forget after a period of time. The old adage "if you don't use it, you lose it" is very true. Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully, I'll be able to contribute more as life gets back to normal - still a long way to go however My house has no flooring, I have no drywall on one of my exterior walls, all my windows need replacing as well as my front door, I have 3 rental units that still have no renters due to the damage - but aside from that.... LMAO all is well!
  14. I've cut plexi on my table saw many times with no problems at all. I use an 80T Diablo blade I make instrument display cabinets and the doors are framed with plexi.in the middle. If I had to do a cutout I would use jigsaw rather than my scroll - I think I can control the cut line easier with a jig myself.
  15. I had to do this with a coffee table I made - it was a real PITA but better than rebuilding the whole piece. What I did was: First I tried Vinegar - only thing this achieved was saturating the wood and made it brittle while trying to separate it. Also tried water = see the vinegar issue above! What worked for me was: Using a heat gun I "warmed" the area where the glue was (don't get it too hot to burn the wood), then using a thin blade (I used an exacto) I sliced and pried at the warmed glue, while slowly separating the the glued pieces Over all this took me about an hour or of consistently working at it - but it was better than 12+ hours of rebuilding the table! Hope that helped
