  1. Welcome to the Village, it's a great place to be.
  2. Welcome to the Village Pete. It's a great place to be. Lovely friendly, helpful people on here that will answer any question for you. Having both saws will be great, but you'll probably find that the Hegner will be your 'go to' saw. I had an 'entry level' saw when I first started, couldn't find a Hegner so got an Axminster instead. The difference is like night and day. You can go from this to this in the blink of an eye. Enjoy your saw and put lots of pics up.
  3. I too, lightly sand before cutting, then I use a sanding ball fixed to an upside down drill that's clamped to my bench . Sounds daft but it works, even on my delicate fretwork.
  4. You'll come home without them all, no doubt.
  5. Stunning. Great craftsmanship. Something to aspire to. !
  6. In the main I use Danish Oil followed by a clear satin spray.
  7. You're spring clamp idea is a good one and I may give them a try, although I prefer to do a 'large' compound cutting and I never use clamps at all when I cut with my bandsaw.
  8. I made some from a Steve Good pattern, they work great. Go to his pattern catalog and put Compound cutting jig in search box
  9. As long as they loved it,, job done. !!
  10. Must confess, I didn't read that bit. But had a look see. Common Name(s): Radiata Pine, Monterey Pine, Insignis Pine Scientific Name: Pinus radiata Distribution: Native to central and southern coastal California; also widely planted throughout the southern hemisphere Still interested in his 'painting' though. Nothing I paint looks that good
  11. Brilliant ! It looks amazing. May I ask what wood + paint you used ? Not that I could make anything so nice, just curious. x

  21. Looking good, that's some nice work you've done. Don't fret over corners, I've been scrolling 4 yrs and still approach the corners from both sides rather than do a full turn
  22. Welcome Martin, from here in sunny Doncaster.
  23. Take good care of yourself Ralph, you'll soon be up and about. Sending very Best Wishes to you. x
  24. Thank you all so, so much. The 'Village People' are absolutely brilliant !!! I have it now and off to my workshop.
  25. Oh dear, that's a shame. It seems that whatever was stuck to the wood has an adhesive that was way too strong. If it helps I use a repositional craft glue on my patterns and stick straight onto my wood and when finished I wipe the pattern with white spirit and the pattern just falls off. Perhaps something to consider in the future ? In the past I found that blue tape did this to some of my wood so haven't used it since.
