  1. Or a Peacock. That's my last one as the possibilities are endless
  2. I think a Rocket with multi coloured napkins would be nice for a kids party
  3. It makes you feel warmer just looking at it, Lovely x
  4. I think any size would work perfectly well, you'd just have to adjust the size of your pattern and 'slot' to match the napkin, especially if you want the napkin to touch the 'floor'. I've just finished altering my own pattern to fit the napkins better. The paints still wet, but tomorrow I'll put up before and after photo's to clarify my meaning. xx
  5. The napkins we have here are most commonly 13" square, that makes for a skirt of 6½" and I've either resized the pattern to fit or where possible just measured from the base where to put the hole for the 'cog' and cut that bit last. Don't know if this helps any.
  6. The ones we have here are 13" square (330mm) and that makes the skirt 6½" long.
  7. Hi John, the napkins I have are 13" square (330mm) so the 'skirt' would be 6½" high, I'm cutting a new pattern as I think I cut the first one too short as I didn't cut it to scale. . I will adjust the pattern to fit and cut the 'hole' for the 'cog' last so that I can put it in a place that matches where the napkins should go for the best result. Don't know if this makes any sense.?
  8. Phew, I held my breath just reading that. So glad it worked
  9. Amazing work Larry, I take my hat off to you sir.
  10. Stunning x
  11. I've got an Axminster Trade Series AWFS18, it was advertised at around £650 at the time, it runs with practically no vibration at all unless I go to a really slow speed. Must confess have never done anything with 'angles' as I have no interest in Inlay or such. I like my word art and portraits best or my new found Napkin holders. LOL.
  12. Thank you so much for the 'napkin folding' photos. It really does make a difference doing it your way. Amazing. Also, thankyou for letting us know that these things existed, you really have 'set them free' I think they are wonderful xxx
  13. What a great idea, I've got loads of plastic test tube, I'll definitely use that idea, thanks xxx
  14. Beautiful, it would look gorgeous on my dresser !!!
  15. Just because I wanted to see if my pattern worked, I did this in ½" mdf on my pin-end saw. I'm quicker on that than on my Axminster. LOL It would definitely need painting ( Matt Black I think) and for me it's perhaps a little 'plain' in it's outline, but hey ho it's a start and I already have dozens of thoughts about what I could make into a napkin holder as there are thousands of vector graphics out there. !!!!
  16. Is there a 'big' difference between that and what I have Roly ? Just curious,
  17. Yesterday Tony said ''come see what I've done'' and when I saw my 'corner' this is what I said, so I thought it very apt for a 'title'
  18. I do, unlike Tony, by the time he's halfway through a project the place looks like a bombs hit it and he can't even find a screwdriver
  19. I am very, very fortunate that my husband has an enormous workshop at the bottom of our garden. I've just taken over a 'corner' of it. I hope you get a place to work set up very soon. xx
  20. That's because I'm a nice old lady and remember these things. It was quite a common saying when I was growing up and it kinda stuck although my grandkids think I'm crazy !!
  21. Only because he did it today for me and I've put everything away,,,, wait till tomorrow
  22. When I joined in August last year, about 5 months ago, I'd bought a little pin-end saw from Aldi a couple of weeks before. I was so happy with my new hobby that my other half gave me a 4ft x 3ft corner of his 'man cave'. But having joined this group and seen what could be done with a 'different' saw, I bought one of those too. Well I kind of 'outgrew' my 4'x3' space but didn't like to ask for more as 'sharing' his man cave was something totally new to Tony. However, it's not gone unnoticed that I'm quite 'smitten' with this 'scrolling lark' so he let me expand and has even put cupboards on the wall for me to keep my stuff in. I love him lots
  23. I can understand that, we call them serviettes too Language is a funny thing, I remember going to my grandmothers and she gave me some money wrapped up in paper and said '' Go to the Chippy and give him this'' An hour later she came looking for me and asked ''What on earth are you doing child''? I said, ''I've looked everywhere and can't find a carpenter shop anywhere." She burst out laughing, to her a 'Chippy' was a fish and chip shop. !!!
  24. Fabulous
