  1. Thanks Melanie, I'll definitely read this thread, I never knew about it as it was written before I even knew what a scrollsaw was
  2. Thank you for your help, I'll go and find the link and carefully listen x
  3. Thank you Charley, I will re-read this many times to get it firmly in my head. Your help is much appreciated.
  4. Many thanks for all your input. I was using just a piece of pine that I found in hubbys shed. I was using a No3 reverse blade, I'm pretty certain my table is square because my 'letters' fall out perfectly. I don't have a photo as I threw the piece onto the fire, literally But it was exactly the same problem I had when I tried thicker flat wood, the 'backside' was nowhere near the shape of the pattern that I'd cut on the front. I tried not to 'push' but perhaps I did without thinking. Where I cut on the front of the pattern looked perfect but when I looked at the 'backside' the cut was miniscule. If I had to describe what I saw, then I would say a 'V' shape. I may try using a piece of 'proper' wood and a different blade next time. But I'm easily discouraged and don't feel like trying again just yet. ¼" plywood (which I use mostly) is such a forgiving wood that I don't have a problem cutting that. I have an Axminster Trade Series saw which performs beautifully on anything else I cut.
  5. I don't know anyone that uses a scrollsaw that I can tell my woes to, so I've come on here I've tried today to do a 3d cut with 1½" wood and yet again I've failed. I've tried 'flat' wood too, but cutting anything thicker than ¼" is truly beyond my capabilities, and I just wanted to bemoan my fate with people that understand what I'm talking about Thanks for listening. xxx
  6. Brilliant, that made me smile. Nice cutting
  7. Amazing, beautifully done.
  8. Oooh, Ecky Thump. I've been scrolling for about 6/8 months and I've ''Never'' tried to tilt the table on my saw !!! I've found it hard enough learning how to cut on a 'level' table. It addles my brain even considering it
  9. Thank you all. I'll get some Antibacterial wipes for when I've finished using it and I'll also wash it regularly I think.
  10. I recently bought a new mask, and in general I'm pretty pleased with it. I no longer have the problem of my glasses steaming up and I find it quite comfortable to wear However, I find if I wear it for any length of time that it's 'wet' inside, presumable with condensation. Is this normal or is something going awry. ? This is a picture of it.
  11. Not that I'm an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love my 'letters'. I personally would use ¼" ply which I have access to a lot of or 1/8th wood perhaps and I use a No.3 Reverse blade. This one had quite 'thin' letters and that's how I did it. I've never done a 'stack' cut so can't comment on that. xx
  12. Hope your recovery carries on going well for you Frank, it will make the summer so much better for you. I love the plaque and I'm sure Jane will be thrilled with it, I know I would be. xx
  13. Wow, that's brilliant x

There are no words that can encompass such a loss, you have my most sincere condolences. Your piece must have a taken a while to dry as you cut it with tears falling, but it will forever be an incredible reminder of a beautiful babe, I'm sure it will be treasured always. Sleep well little Faith. xx
  15. Welcome from me too over here in the UK.
  16. Amazing !!
  17. That looks absolutely brilliant. I love it and as @jbrowning says, I reckon she'd love a matching pair
  18. When it said ''Because large pieces of wood won’t fit in a scroll saw, I cut four smaller pieces and glue them together into one large piece" I took it that he cut 4 separate patterns and then glued them together to make one plant holder..
  19. Don't know if this is the same, but I think they glue the pieces together http://scrollsawer.com/2018/12/31/how-to-make-simple-wooden-air-plant-holders/
  20. Mmm, it piqued my interest I must admit, but not 'that' much , I can't see me cutting a log, I find it difficult to cut a flat piece of wood !!!
  21. For anyone interested here's one on Ebay, but not in the UK or I'd have had it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Scroll-Saw-Castles-How-to-Make-Collapsible-Castles-on-Your-Scroll-Saw-ExLibrary-/273364130611
