  1. simply beautiful and my vote is for the green glass... where did you get the pattern? I would love to cut that pattern for myself. you see I had a small red eared slider turtle for almost a year but had to give him away because it was just getting to hard for us to change his water every 2 weeks and knowing that he would get much bigger we felt it was best for him to live with a younger family. a friend of mine knew a teacher at the eleamentay school here in town...who was looking for a pet for her class room and she has other turtles at home so I let him go live with the teacher...during the school year he lives at the school and during the summer she takes him home. I miss him SO MUCH!!! I named him Mr spock…. id love to scroll this with his name under it...it would nt be having him back but in a way I think it will help me miss him just a little less. I had some orange glass like the green glass you have at the top...I used it to do my first inlay piece....a dragon of course...it dosnt look great but I had no idea what I was doing and hadn't at that time found a book explaining how to do inlay work. i'll take a picture of it soon and put it up....but be forwarned its not nearly as good as yours! could you tell me where to get the pattern? I have an idea for a project I want to make....a small aquiram with a compound cut red eared turtle in it and a few fish... I used to have fish when I was younger …… I have an old aquram but I think its to big, not so much for me but to big for spike....although im trying to find an out of the way place I can put it so I can make my aquream for my vertical mr spock and some fish.... im to the point now where im thinging i'll have to get a small bowl or aquram from Walmart or meyjers before I can make my vertral aquram… I have a compound cut of a turtle but its a land turtle and im trying to figure out how to turn it into a water turtle....and rats!! now this post is really long!! iv been trying not to come here to much and leaving really long posts and to keep my posts just about scrolling.... sorry. I will do better!!! just wanted you to know why I want to cut out that pattern if I can get it. He looks just like my mr spock
  2. They did a GREAT job!!! I jus bought a new scroll saw for my grandson for christmass. I have it set up here for him to use when hes here so hes learning to scroll on his own scroll saw. I wish he could come down more often so he could scroll more often, he wants to make Christmas presents this year. if he dosnt have any trouble using the new saw and changing the blades I want to start him on some fret work. I hope his parents will bring home down to visit a little bit more between now and Christmas... by the way love your cut to!! did you make the pattern yourself? and is the little boy with batman your grandson? my grandson is 9. we really do have to keep teaching our children crafts least they become lost .
  3. love it! is beautiful!!! HD is that home depot? I have a ton of knob and fary houses I want to make and some of them need small rocks....having grown up in the country by that I mean mostly dirt roads and only one or two houses besides us I never thought id have to BUY stones or rocks lol they were all over the yard, hedge rows and we spent a lot of time helping the farmers clear rocks from the fields. lol I USED to have tough skin on the bottom of my feet as of course most of the time we didn't wear shoes. lol and I now I find I have to wait until we get to a store where I can buy some stones and rocks before I can make my knob and fary houses. we have an acer of land here in town that our house is on and guess what? not a stone or rock anywhere to be seen....hum must be a city thing....lol
  4. totaly awsome and fantastic!!! you must have termenusdence paticence!!! that is just fantastic!!!
  5. another WOW!!! you did a great job
  6. great cut and great project!!
  7. oh hes so cute!!! just makes me want to grab him up and give him a great big hug!!! lol you did wounderful cutting him out!!
  8. in an ideal world ALL of our projects would come out great!!! but of course this NOT an ideal world and the best we can do is try to learn from our mastakes
  9. love them both espicaly the eagle in the feather
  10. I like both of them as well and yes I to like the bottom one best!! lol
  11. im sure you will find them.... since i was frustrated at not being able to understand and figure out how to make the 3d printer work i decided to take an on line IQ test...i wound up taking a few of them all with the same results....i have a very low IQ.... sigh well lat least now i know why i have so much trouble trying to do things and now its bed time dont know what i'll do tomarrow...maybe i should just sell or give away the 3 d printer and cnc machines ?
  12. well this has nothing to do with scrolling but since i have no one else to talk to your get to here my rant and raving....i got everything cleaned up the last few days so this morning so got out my 3d printer the instructions and the sd card and TRIED to load the program into my computer.....well i did who knows what and the darn thing would nt load....and as i was muttering under my breath spike asked what the problem was and i told him i couldnt get the program to load so he took the computer and tried to see what i had done to get things all messed up.. he worked on it for half an hour and couldnt figure out why the program wouldnt load .... so then he took the sd card and put it into his computer and natraily it loaded up just fine....so ok we figure i should be able to go from there with the directions..but of course i couldnt.... i couldnt even get the program to work...sigh in asperation and frustration he yelled at me ( which he seldom does) and said CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING!! He was just frustrated partly because he cant really understand how it works and is having trouble trying to help me figure the thing out. sigh but the way he said it reminded me so much of the way the ex would get frustrated with me because i couldnt seem to do anything and he'd say if your not going to live and you cant learn how to do anything why dont you just go crawl up in a hole somewhere and die instead of taking up space and air somebody who wants to live and can learn could use. sigh he didnt mean it that way i know....and he apolized to me but ... ah well im not going to tell him how that made me feel because those are not words spike would ever say to me hes alwaying incourging me to do things and to try things....and he hates the way my family treats me sigh but its got to be almost unbearable living with a stupid person who messes up everything she tries to do and needs help with everything.... i suggested maybe would could call best buy and see if there keek squied could help us get it set up and he said you can call them and ask.....but of course i cant....just one more of the many things i cant do.. he calmed down some by the time we got home from getting connors scroll saw and i found a sight that might be able to help him get it set up... and he will look into it tomarrow.... if we cant figure it out i'll get the number from ritia for her computer guy and then maybe spike could call him and or best buy to see what if anything we can do to get it set up and running.... and of course now i have the cnc machine that most likely i will not be any more able to get up and running then the 3d printer.....sigh im tired going to go take a nap and pray some how God will help us find a way to get at least one of if not both machines up and running sigh when i wake up i have to save everything on my computer to jump drives because its all mess up AGAIN and i need to reformat the darn thing AGAIN which really means i put stuff on the jump drives and spike reformats the computer AGAIN....at least i KNOW he can do that so i'll proubly just wind up with 2 very expensive paper weights.... bummed out right now but dont worry this too will pass it always does
  13. so true. lol we went to harbor fright today and i picked up the new saw for him for christmass. We'll set it up here in my woodshop and tell him this is another small scroll saw he can use while hes here. then come christmas we'll put it back in the box with some blades, sandpaper tracing paper and carbon paper a few patterns and hopefuly i'll remember to get him the tracing tool from the winafield collection sight to make transfering the pattern to the wood . i would have said yes but spike is always looking out for me and he can always tell when my head is starting to hurt...and then reminds me to stop what im doing and take a break and of course as usuly he was right darn man!! with in an hour of connors leaving i had to take a pain pill perscribed for my migrines because the darn thing hit like a ton of bricks!! and of course he reminded me again that good stress is just as bad as bad stress when it comes to my head. which is why the holidays are so hard for me but i wouldnt give them up for anything in the world!!
  14. lol well way back in the 70s when i was a pre teen and teeange the sexual revaloution was just starting and there was a defanet devide between what girls could do and what boys could do. Many times id ask my father to let me help him when he was working on the cars or when he was building things...i got this is mens work go help your mother!!! well i had no real desire to help my mother clean house lol i think iv mentioned this before but what the heak.... after i was older and living on my own that statement came back to bite him , how can you be 30 something and NOT KNOW HOW TO CHECK THE OIL in your car?? to which i replayed when ever i asked you to teach me how to work on cars YOU told me that was mens work and sent me to go help my mother lol he didnt believe me at first because he clearly remembered teaching me car matanice...mom had to tell him wrong daughter!!! he taught my little sister who is 10 years younger then me car matinece. lol and till his dying days we could not get the man to understand that when he was building stuff and needed help or tools he didnt have it was his DAUGHTER he needed to ask for help. lol so when in the middle of the project and he needed help the family would send him to the store and then call me while he was gone. lol
  15. i'll pass on his great job from you karl. and yes it is good to see kids doing something besides electronic gadgets... I worry a bit about connor as all i ever see him doing is watching netfli kids on his tablet or playing games on it. hes spent time with me before and unless i give him something else to do hes on his tablet.... he messed up the settings on his table saterday and the boy was totly lost as to what to do....spike didnt fix it right away partly because it was nice to see him off the tablet. and partly because it took awhile to figure out what he was trying to tell us was wrong with it . lol once we figured out what he had done it was a very easy quick thing to fix. im glad there doing the on line schooling where he is but that also means less time off of the computer for him too.
  16. okk had some problems getting the pictures up spike got those too up then sent them lol so heres the rest of the pictures...he had to go in and change the letters on the end of the pictures so they would upload. why i dint know as iv been using this camra to upload pictures for years anyway here they are
  17. ok had some problems getting the pictures up...spike said the tags at the ends of the pictures was wrong and he fixed it. dont know why or how it got changed...iv been using this carma to upload pics for years...oh well. i HAD them all in proper order on the desktop but for some reason there NOT in order on here lol not even going to try to figure out why. lol on the vicking ship the front of the ship is on the left. lol connor said it looks like a head with the mouth opened. lol The first picture is of course connor with all the scroll saw gear on lol hes wearing my stuff but i have a pair of safety glass'es here that look like regular glasses except its all clear that i will give him along with the scroll saw and some masks and blades for christmas...they have a fairly cheap scroll saw at harbor fright that im going to buy for him since we couldnt get the 2 small old scroll saws to work.. for some reason we couldnt get the tenson on either one of them to tighten up.... but they have been just sitting not being used for over 15 years...lol he will paint his projejcjts at home. his parents will have to get the ear protection for him... and i'll suggest they get an electric sander for him at some point...these he sanded by hand because im trying to make his lessons be as close to what it will be when he starts scrolling.at home..i was going to get him the sander but since the old saws arnt working i'll be buying that for him instead. he said he cant wait until he can come down again!! lol my son called late yesterday afternoon to let us know they post poned opening the school again so he could stay another day but spike said no... just because i was really tired and had a bit of a headace....so to avoid a fight i told john to come get him.... now i know he is just looking out for me but gezz if i was willing to keep him another day it seems like the decission shoud of been mine unless he was the one who was to tired to have connor another day....oh well...he means well....but if this kind of thing keeps happening we are going to have to have a little talk because as the copd countues to get worse and worse im going to tire out faster and faster and ill get shorter of breath more often with less exsurtion... and i am NOT going to STOP living just because its a bit more diffculte. it seems like he would know that by now....after all i kept going through the years of constent migrines and headaces until the pain unbearable and never stop so i could recoparate these last 2 years... i just have to pace myself better i guess....i do love that man dearly but sometimes he can get on my nerves!!! lol which i suppose is only fair since i tend to get on his nerves sometimees to !lol
  18. ok i read all the commets on the first message i posted and they were very wise ... connor only had to cut 2 stright lines and 2 curvey lines before we found a project for him to make. Iv taught people crafts before and at any age the person wants to MAKE SOMETHING!!!! lol now being a very creative boy he took the scrap pieces from his first line cutting lessons and turned it into a vicking ship...grandma cut out the sail because it was so small but he did everything else...Then we look through my big book of beggining and easy projects and since he wanted to put things together he pick a graffee....boy couldnt possably chose something i could spell!! lol i helped a little with putting it together....for one thing he wanted the legs to be able to move so i drilled the holes on all the pices and then i cut the dowels and we dryed fit it then we glued it together. the only problem we had was when of the legs fell off. lol somebody thought it was taking to long for the glue to dry!! lol so we put it back on and he left it alone until his dad came to pick him up lol he was so proud of his work!! and i of course was a very proud grandman lol his dad was very impressed lol and now as i promised conner here are the pictures of him and his projects
  19. yes every day is different and although i complain a bit now and then about my body getting rickedy lol i count myself as blessed these past 9 months or soo as i have been almost pain free as far as the headaces and migrines go...and remind myself that the constent non stop migrines and headaces were so much worse!! and i could never get any relief from them where as if i put the back brace spike got me at wal greens on and sit down for awhile the pain in the back eases up or stops....im going to try getting some of those hot stick on headting pad things for my back next time spike goes to the store.....we did some wavy lines today and of course he needs pratcie lol because grandma wavey lines are a LOT harder to cut!! lol i was worried that we might not get to making a project this time around but connor saw a viking ship in his waste wood so we drew up a mast and cut it out and grandma drilled a hole in the ship and wala!! a vicking ship !! lol the wavey ines on the bottom are of course waves lol he was so excited he had to call his mom on the computer and show her all the stuff he cut today and of course his viking ship lol ihavent seen him so happy and excited in a long time!! lol and he was quite proud of himself. lol i told him id take pictures of his cutting today and put it up on the scroll saw sight im on so my friends could see how hes doing today and as he keeps learning.... he was like WOW!! really grandma lol well of course i mean grandmas like to show off there grandchildren and the things they do. lol i was afraid after all of the trouble we had trying to get the old saws going hed be discouraged but he wasnt and was really feeling grown when i told him never mind about the smaller saws we'll just use grandmas saw you can still start cutting today... lol they have a small scroll saw at harbor fright for 69 dollars so tomorrow i'll send spike down to buy it. It will be his christmas present but he wont know that until christmas lol as far as hes concerned it a saw grandma bought so he could saw too lol... i havent felt this way since my kids were little and i taught them how to do the crafts that interested them. kids they get so excited! lol and of course as much as i love doing the crafts i havent been really excited doing them for a few years now. lol its almost as if im learning all over again watching him lol and he has a healthy fear (respect) for the blade. lol he stoped a few times because he felt his hands were getting to close to the blade so i just showed him where to put his hands and told them the more he pratices the better he will get and he will know where to put his hands. i hope we have some time tomarrow before his parents get here to do some more sawing and maybe cut out the parts for a teddy bear or something simple he can do but we will see. and now im going to rest a bit lol darn boy is wearing his grandma out!! lol
  20. well connor did nt get to cut anything untill a little after noon. The reason being even though we praticed putting in and taking off the blade yesterday when we went to tighten the tension it just wouldnt tighten up the blade enough to acutally cut the wood.... spent a few hours trying to figure out why but couldnt soo we got the other small saw out. That one didnt work out either poor boy was so paticent. but he did get to cut some wood today. i just let him use my saw... The lesson went great once we finally got to it. lol The boy seems to be a natral, at least at cutting stright lines!! he only wavered over the line on one cut...the rest of them he did perfect. we"re taking a short break right now and then we will see how he does on wavy lines. he asked if wed be able to do a project this weekend but i had to tell him i didint know...it will depend on how long it takes him to learn to feed the wood into the blade and be able to stay on the lines.. im hoping to do some wavy and squggly lines in about half an hour then well see if he can cut out a square... he was so excited about cutting the wood he asked if he could show his parents tomorrow when they come to pick him up. lol im going to have spike go to harbor fraight and see how much there small scroll saws are and i think i'll pick one up for him....it will be his christmas present but he wont know that till christmas when i give it to him. lol so he'll still be learning on the saw he'll get for christmass and now grandmas off to take a little nap befor he gets lesson 2 on scrolling wavy and curved lines.
  21. Well my son didnt bring my grandson out until late this afternoon so we didnt get very far....we went over safity rules, wearing ear protion and eye protction...and then we went over the different parts of the saw and praticing put on and taking off blades.... I had forgotten how complex blading that old delta was!! lol but it didnt daunt the boy hes still just a ready and eager to learn as ever. Grandma how ever is having a few problems with the teaching.... its HOT in the woodshop and of course the saw is on a lower table so he can comfortably reach it which means grandma has to bend over A LOT to show him how to do things....the combation of the two is amost more then i can cope with. hopefuly tomarrow will be a little cooler in there.... I should have asked my heart dr if my heart conditon could be effecting my breathing as well as my lungs but i didnt think about it.... actualy i never think about my heart unless im at the heart drs lol it dosnt bother me in any way and it doest hurt sooo.... i have other things to think about lol ....but after my last heart ultra sound he took me off my old meds....so im not taking anything right now and gave me a new med to start monday i think it is... then i have to go back in end of sep beging of oct so he can see if it makes a difference... personaly not taking them at all dost seem to be making any difference anyway...but what the heak whats one more of less pill to pop...or actualy 2 as the new med has to be taken twice a day....anyway spike is going to help me with the lessons on how to use the saw and im going to see if i can find a lower chair to put in there for when im supervising connor...i have a bar stool in there now that i use to sit on when im scrolling on my saw as i cant stand for very long anymore.... it never ceases to amaze me how much healther spike is then me...He s 73 and although hes a bit slower then he used to be he dosnt have any real problem doing anything he wants to do. while at 62 i can bairly breath anymore and i cant stand or walk for even a few minutes at a time.... which is why it took so long to make the darn bread....... ah well... its NOT going to get me down! my body WILL DO what i tell it to! there now i feel better and things will go better tomarrow.... and now im off to bed lol to watch tv with my wounderful little heating pad intill ist time for the boy to go to bed lol i let him stayup till midnight but he never really makes it that long lol at ten thirty he has to sit or lie on his blankest on the floor and play his games quitly or watch tv lol and now back to waire house 13!!! lol everybody have a great night!!
  22. i love it!!! where did you say the pattern is? id love to cut that one myself.... my dad would have loved it.... when we were very little he traided his rodo horse for a shetlen pony for us kids ... iv loved horses ever since...alass we moved from there when i was really little to and never got to ride again.... and no i dont think he ever rode in a rodo . lol
  23. ok let me see if i understand what your saying......you stack cut the top and bottom together and then stack cut both sides together.....IF i can manage to make frames that would be great!!! you see when i was younger i did a LOT of hand emboridy....and of course there all folded up in a plastic bag in a box. lol it would be great if i could make frames for them. I only have one of my hand emboridys framed....a girl i worked with husband framed it for me.... it looks so nice!! but he didnt do angled corners... he cut to side pieces and a top and bottom to form a large rectangle i wish there were other sights llike this one for the other crafts i do.... i miss showing them to someone.... i used t show mom all my stuff...ah well. im going to try to highlight your instructions and copy them if it works great and if not i think i can remember what you said lol THANKS!!!
  24. those look great!!! you can really paint too!!!
  25. looks great!!!
