A few new cuts and a new frame process....
Dragonkort replied to new2woodwrk's topic in Bragging Rights
nice stuff!!! i try to stay away from making frames...for some reason no matter how careful i am the first 3 sides come out good but 4th never seems to fit lol -
Ok somebody asked me to take pictures while i was baking so here they are. now I TRIED to get everything in order but the last picture insists on being the first one on here lol iv tried to put it at the end several times but alass it refuses to be the last picture lol so the first picture is of the finished zuccinne bread lol now the rest are in order first getting all the ingredents and tools out the second one greased and floured bread pans net the first few ingredents in the bowl then a picture of it al mixed up then adding the sugar and flour and of course a picture of that all mixed in. Then the batter in the bread pans...im making 2 kinds raison and caro chip ( caro instead of cholote chips) the the first 2 loves in the oven then after there taken out of the oven and like i said the first pic on here should be the last pic of the bread out of the pans.... the other 2 are in the oven now cooking. and now im off to go wash the dishes so i can start the next batch. lol which is the same as the first lol oh i for got to tell you im out of room in the freezers so these will be given to friends and family and the mail lady ... getting some before christmass this year lol

Im so excited!! my son just called and they finally got the results back from there cronia vires tests.... The all came back negitive so im FINNALY going to have my grandson here for this comming weekend! iv been ragging on the kids about letting him come down for awhile now. I still have the two small scroll saws i learned to scroll on ( well there was nothing wrong them i just upgraded a few times ) So we can set one of them up here and i can give him his first scroll saw lesson. now i have like i said 2 of the smaller scroll saws....one has more then one speed and the other has only one speed. Im going to give him one of them for christmas this year.... and the other one he will use when hes here....looking for an opion here....which one should i give him for christmass? I wont be able to be there to supervise him on the one i give him for home. this is the first time iv taught anyone to scroll where i wouldnt be right there with them all the time there using the saw until im comfortable with there ablity to use it. one of his parents will be supervising him but they dont know anything about scrolling, I'll give them some instructions on how to use it as well. hopefuly they'll bring him down at least a few times before christmas so he gets more pratice before he gets his own to take home... humm im going to have to go through my patterns and see if i can find a few really easy patterns for him to work on when hes here. but FIRST im off to go find something to eat!

not much time to craft but trying to get some in anyway
Dragonkort replied to Dragonkort's topic in Coffee House
lol well right now im finishinng up the zuccinee...I have one tub of prereed zuccine left to turn into breads, and cookies and maybe a cake....I wont be able to do any more after that because we're running out of room in the freezer!! lol not sure what i'll do with the stuff i make now....give it away to sibings and neighboors....lol i know the lady across the street likes it and we have new neigboors on one side of us so i'll give them some too, hopefuly i'll be able to make room in the freeer for the rest of it. lol....now the apples dont start until sept-- oct....depending on the apple trees and what they produce. Last year there were fewer apples on the trees and they were smaller then in previous years....id look up why are my trees proudcine fewer and smaller apples the before but there are a lot of different types of apple trees and i dont know what kind mine are.... but after harvest i'll just google apple trees in general and hopefuly it will give me some idea as to whats going on..... id be working on the zuccinee now except i have to go see my heart Dr this afternoon and i dont want to get all sweaty and dirty until i get back. lol we will spend more time in the waiting room and in the examine room then we will with the dr.... all he ever does is ask me how im feeling and then listens to my heart then tell me to come back in in another 6 months to a year....it might take a little longer this time as i should get the results the ultra sound they took of my heart last month but im sure thats fine to as if it wasnt im sure they would have called to have me come in earlyer....maybe while were out i can get spike to stop at a lumber yard to pick up some more wood....and i have t find someplace to get little rocks and pebbles....growing up in the country all i ever had to do was go walking out in the yard ,the road or the woods i and id have more little rocks and pebbles then i could use in a life time!! lol i found some patterns for making little knob houses and i want to make some.... we have a tree in the front yard the village is going to cut down eventually and i want to do a knob home on the stump of that too.... im tempted to make it at the trunk of the tree and just tell the village not to cut below the roof of the knob home.....but so far spikes against the idea because well what will happen to it if there not careful cutting it down? The arugement that well id just repair it or make it over again dosnt seem to fit for him lol oh well i dont have time to do it right now anyway and even if i have to wait until next summer thats ok too. well its about time to start getting ready to leave so i'll pop back in again as soon as i have a minute to spare... i'll see if spike can take a few pictures of the baking process and put them up in the coffee house later. ... lol everybody have a great day!!! -
well i havent had much time to do crafting lately...and today is no different, i have 2 bags of zuccinee waiting for me in the grage as we speak but wanted to pop in and say hi....i managed to get the dragon house sign copyed ad hope to get it on the wood someitme in the next day or so.....and iv decided before i toss out the failed wizzard project im going to do a little sanding on one of them and then take some of my felt and using different colors to put on the back and put a baker board on it and see if that will help in any ..... like spike says i simple HATE to through things away!! lol i'll post a picture of it after i get the felt and baker board on it and do something with the frame....and i expect everybody to brutaly honest on how it looks.... like i said i just cant toss it out until i see if i can find a way to fix it lol... we id best get to that zuccine!!! everybody have a great weekend!!!

beautiful!!! you did a great job!!
-
WOW !!! is all i can say!!! its simply magnificent!!! it reminds of the airea i lived in when i was very little....the mountians and trees.... in upstate NY...of all the places iv lived that was my favorit!!! thank you for the wounderul memory
-
i agree with everyone else its simply beautyful!!!! and i didnt know there was a certin way the grain of the wood was suppose to go either....none of my books say anything about how the grain of the wood should run....i v never really thought about it, i just put the pattern on the wood the way it fits best and so that i can get the most patterns on it....huumm
-
wounderful!!! its beautiful!!!!! you did a great job on that!!! now about the pattern did you make it? and is it a not to sell pattern? just want to know which folder to put it in.....dont want to make a mastake and get into trouble....my oldest he likes the big cats and im thinking chrismass ...but dont want to stack cut 2 many if its personal use only and again it came out great!!!
-
lovely peice!!! you did a great job!!! it turned out beautiful!!!
-
totaly awsome its beautiful!!! i love it!!!
-
they came out great!!! I do a lot of stack cutting as i try to make up stock to sell on ebay.... im hoping to make up a bunch of new stuff before nov to try to sell for christmass..but ya never know....life somehow tends to get in the way lol theres good and bad with stack cutting...if it comes out good...you have severall pieces yea!!! but if it dosnt come out well then youve lost several peaces lol like i said you did a GREAT job and they came out great!!!

humm wounder if i can save the wizzard if i cut the right side off and then frame just around the wizzard....
-
ok i have read and taken notes...the dragons head is in the upper right hand corner and one of his feet is just below that. will use brads espically in the center next time and work from the inside out....i'll have to see how much the b/bb wood is .... we do pretty good with his ssi and my ssdi but still have to budget. next time i think i'll just take my tracing paper and carbin papper and trace the pattern right on to the wood.like i usualy do... lol that way i wont loose a line when the paper flips up every now and then lol it will have to wait until after harvest time though as im quite busy right now. lol just finished the last batch of penut butter caro buttschot cip cookies and need to get them pakaged and into the freezer and i still have caro frosting to make for the zuccine brownies i made yesterday so i can pakage them up and put in the freezer to and yesterday spike picked me up some more zuccine so it will have to be pealed cut ad preeaed so i can make more stuff lol oh and caro is a subsute for choloate... lol but im pretty sure i'll be able to sneak into the wood shop every now and then and do a few simple things lol and again thanks everybody!!!
-
ok i might work in wood but my wood knowlge is kind of limited lol could you tell me WHAT b/bb baltic burch is? i mean i know its a type of baltic burch but is b/bb a grade of the wood? or the type of wood? i mean like some press woods where the layers run vertialy on one layer and then horzonaly on the next layer? I asked spike but he's never heard of it , the only kind of wood working hes done is like building closets or walls and such....is it expensive?

Ok here are the pictures...I proubly took to many but it should give you a good idea as to what they look like i put some black felt under them and i must say they do look a LOT better then i thought they were . the lying down pictures show the front and back. of each peice . with them lying they they really dont look to go at all then i took some pictures with them standing up and the black felt behind them, those look a bit better. You can actully tell what there suppose to be!! so i am glad that i did better then i thought i did at least. now im not sure if i should just toss them in the trash or try doing the burn method along the sides where i made a sort of frame. my orginal idea was to take the flooring materal and cut it to the size and clue it around the outside edge. but like i said either way i did better then i thought i did they look a LOT better in the upright position the one the white on it is the top peace where the pattern was glued to it.....i'll check to see if i have any goo be gone around here that might help take the paper off. but like i told the guy ( cant remember his name darn it!!) we tend to be our own worse criticts... and i trust you guys to brutaly honest.... i wounder if maybe i should cut it on the right hand side just above the first big hole and below the second big hole thats where the bigest pieces fell out....theres supposes to be if i remember right 4 or 5 different cuts there well im feeling a bit better nowso im going to go find a pattern to cut forthe craft boxes and if i countue to feel better i'll sand that piece of wood spike found for me to do my dragon house sign... its been around for awhile so its kind of gray hopefuly after if i sand it it wont be quite so gray and the pattern will show up better. I think im going to have to use my sabor saw to cut it out. i'll have to transfer all the lines onto the back after it cut so i can do a little line type carving on it like i did for my daughters D&D screen and then i'll paint it i'll have to have spike help me make the numbers big enough to go into the sign part after i cut it out... and thanks everybody for all your help!!! i dont think i would have ever tried a piece this complex with out all your incourgement!!!
