  1. Call out to both Pete @Scrappile and Bernd @munzieb for great pattern and great cuttings. Persistence pays!
  2. Mine (Pegas) sits on a bench also, concrete floor, solid bench. I had to adjust the levelers on the feet to stop the vibration.
  3. Very nice, I like the design and the finished products. Did you use oak for the wood? The spoon looks like white oak but the fork is a slightly darker color.
  4. Very nice Gene, but I don't see the blue. How tall is it?
  5. Love them all, very nice work! Wishing you the best with your surgery. Do what the doc says and you will be back at the saw soon enough.
  6. Paul @Scrappile, best wishes for you with your health issues. Here's hoping they clear up soon and you are able to get back to the shop. Regarding the Alternative Ivory: that looks interesting, but I have a question. On their website, they price the pieces by dimension, i.e. 3x5x1/4 but do not tell us what the units are. Nowhere can I find if that is in inches or mm or feet or what. Do you know what the units are?
  7. I like them. I have a lot of family history in Mississippi.
  8. Very nice Jeff! The Young Love one looks like it might have been a Norman Rockwell cover for the Saturday Evening Post.
  9. Beautiful job Jane. I rather suspect he will treasure that.
  10. Wayne, beautiful job on the Lord's Prayer. That looks like a challenging scroll saw project. Congratulations on the new saw. I am sure you will learn to love it as much as you do the old one. Best wishes for you in dealing with cancer and neck surgery. Know that you are not alone in either of those.
  11. @wagner1958 Contact the manufacturer. It sounds like an unintended design feature that varies the output signal to the vacuum cleaner as you vary the scroll saw speed. I rather suspect that they will want to know about this and will provide a fix for it.
  12. Very nice! Watching your posts is inspiring me to try my hand at intarsia. Maybe soon.
  13. Very nice cutting, but the wood could be better. Looking forward to seeing it on Alder.
  14. I found it on Etsy Handmade Love Eternal Wood Ornaments, Wooden Couple Kissing Statue, Anniversary Gift, Couple Gift - Etsy. They are asking $50.93 but do not mention the size. I think I would want to do it about 10" high using 1/2" - 3/4" wood, maybe maple. What would be a reasonable charge for that on commission?
  15. Thanks Ralph. I don't want to infringe on anyone's rights. Someone local had asked if someone could make one like that for them, so it would be on commission.
  16. Does anyone know where I can find the pattern for this? I expect that someone owns the rights to this one and hopefully offers the pattern for sale. Thanks in advance.
  17. Do a Google search on Tagua nuts. Lots of hits and pictures and artsy ideas about what to do with them. They are also called "Vegetable Ivory".
  18. following
  19. Here they are, waiting for her when she wakes up. I had almost finished the gnomes when SG published the heart pattern, so I did both.
  20. I sorta like the heart pattern posted by Steve Good this morning, might do that one.
  21. Scrolling is a hobby for me. I don't worry about how long it takes to cut a pattern. In fact, if Icut it too fast, then I have to start another one, and that's ok too. My metric of importance is how much I enjoyed that project. BTW, you should not ache after cutting. Check your posture while at the saw. Your saw and stool should be at an ergonomically good height.
  22. Really nice-looking bowl Ray. I too like the contrast between the Paduak and the Maple. But I never could make it work. If its not the sawdust getting into the maple, then its the pigment bleeding into it. Here's a test for anyone wanting to use Paduak. Get a scrap of Paduak and immerse it in alcohol for however long, then put it on a white rag or paper towel and watch for the bleed. Then try the test with shellac, then with lacquer or whatever you plan to use for the finish. Then refrain from using anything that causes bleeding. I still don't have a solution for sanding and sawdust getting into the maple. Maybe John T @JTTHECLOCKMAN's technique is the only answer. "use a sharp cutting tool and never use sandpaper."
  23. Very cute, makes me smile. And the frame looks great too! Where did you get the pattern?
  24. Thanks Judy. That is timely for me as I am experiencing slippage recently. I had seen that video before and have a couple of the quick clamp renewal kits on hand. But it has been a while since I have needed to do this and it seems it might be time to do it again.
  25. Very nice! Q: what is "root ruby?" Google search is not helpful.
