This is a pattern by Frank that I cut from aspen and mounted on red transparent acrylic, frame is stained alder. I then added a light string to the back.
Thanks for the replies, I just could not resist using my router to make a one piece frame. Think I will take Franks advice and build that saw frame sled!
I am working on a project and decided to mount it in a rectangle one piece frame. I set up my bit and bearing in my router for the rabbet and all went well except the corners where the bearing does not allow a 90degree cut. I used a small chisel and exacto knife but the corners are not especially good looking. Any tips or suggestions? Is there a tool for finishing the corners? Thanks in advance for any help.
I have found that sanding prior to cutting is a big time saver. My planer does a great job when I am getting my hardwoods to thickness, I can usually go straight to a 220 grit after planing. I have also become fond of using the torch to remove the fuzzies, you just have to be careful.
Welcome, tons of good info here. I started with a used DeWalt, gave $200 for it and did the upgrades, Pegas chucks, lifter arm etc. I have been really happy with it and so far I have been able to do projects I want.
Sounds like speed controller, I have left two messages and a couple of emails over the last week trying to contact someone at Seyco but no response. Are they still in business?
Have not posted for a bit, finally got health back enough to get back to saw and finish this, made it from 1/4BB with a BB backer. Biggest project I have done. Thank goodness for FD New Spiral 3/0 blades
I have a cutech spiral head planer. They have several models, you can view them online. I have been very happy with it, especially since it uses inserts instead of knives.
I had a issue with 2/0 blades for a while . I have a DeWalt with the Pegas heads with the Pegas clamp. Works great on everything except 2/0 blades which break as soon as I push the white lever to tension. I discovered that if I leave the Pegas lever down and use the DeWalt tensioner on 3-4 the blades do not break when applying tension and I can cut faitly thick hardwoods with no problem. I don't know why but that's just how it is on my machine.
Beautiful, if you dont mine me asking-do you cut the circular part on your scroll saw or some other way? I have a lot of trouble making my circles perfect on my scroll saw and was wondering if I should use a router circle jig for the circles?
