    I'd guess 98% of everything I've cut has been using Baltic Birch - mostly 1/4" with 1/8" second runner up and the rest 1/2". And about 98% of the patterns have been Steve Good patterns (thanks Steve). The wood has a uniform color. Cut easily, takes stain and finishes well. Is locally available in various sizes, compared to hardwood. The quality is better than other plywood available at the box stores (HD/Lowes). That's my 2 pennies worth.

    I have retractable casters on my scroll saw stands and a newly made bench for my table top router.     I got a HF light on sale - 4 LED tube type and hung it over my workbench. Gives plenty of light and eliminates shadows like those cause by the ceiling lights when I was working anything. The pull chain was sticking at the point where the chain goes into the switch, causing it to hang up. I shot a spritz of WD40 into it and now it works fine.

    Many years ago I heard of a guitar player who played so hard he ripped the callouses from his fingers from time to time and used super glue to glue them back on and kept playing. Don't know if it's true but makes for a good story.

    I got a similar type a couple years ago and use it for really tight patterns. I also wear glasses and have not had any problems using them together.

    I've been doing the same thing for a couple years now. Only use the wearable magnifer for the really small, tight patterns.
