  1. yeah, that's what got me to looking at and getting into resawing. I know it will take a fair amount of time to recoup the initial outlay, but like you, I just can't get past the increasing shipping costs. And it's another step in the journey of wood working.
  2. Yep, I've been eyeballing that one for a long time too. Life has had me distracted, but things are settling down, so maybe . . . we'll see. Fingers crossed.
  3. Ditto on the Congrats. My old second hand DW is still sitting off in a corner of my garage after I disassembled it to replace what I think are some bad bearings causing a lot of noise. The Pegas I bought last August kept me distracted. After doing a comparison of replacing all the bearings compared to buying a new one, it makes me wonder if it's worth it to do the rebuild or just toss it.
  4. A good beginning makes for a good journey. May the Pegas take you on a long journey spanning many years and patterns.
  5. Well, ya gotta start somewhere, and with limited funds, get what you can and see what you can do. Last year I bought an old craftsman bandsaw at a yard sale for $75. Turned out to be really old, as in no replacement parts were available. It was a 1/3 Hp and did so-so cutting small pieces of wood. So later in the year, I sold it for $50 at one of our yard sales and consoled myself with a $25 lesson. So if you do go the used route, see if replacement parts are still available. Fast forward to now - I did some construction /remodeling/ house flipping work for a couple of friends and used the money I made to buy a new bandsaw. And am pleased with it. There is an saying on the forum I've seen and subscribe to: "Buy once . . . cry once". So, in my opinion, if you're hot to get a bandsaw, then go for it and see where it takes you. Regardless of how it plays out, you will learn a lot. Good luck with it. Oh, and a good blade does make a lot of difference in cutting and the quality of the cut.
  6. Umm, Umm, GOOD!
  7. We got our first one visiting Wales and have since then got them as a wedding gift for friends/family.
  8. Looking forward to reading your experiences with it.
  9. Nailed it!
  10. Well that one is going near the top of my to cut list! waaay cute!
  11. So far, it has worked well for me in sucking up all/most of the bandsaw dust when I cut a couple of pieces of wood just after I got the bandsaw. I haven't had the occasion for the intake to get clogged/stopped up, but will experiment with it and see what happens. I had a couple of unused buckets sitting around collecting dust, saw this video and decided to give it a try. I'm just about done helping a friend flip a house and am looking forward to getting back in the garage and giving the bandsaw and dust collector a good workout. Will post more about it if I have encounter problems.
  12. This works well for me connected to my bandsaw . . .
  13. I found this - might give you some insight.
  14. Welcome from Delaware. Great place here.
  15. Welcome to the neighborhood from Dover, Delaware. You're gonna love it here.
  16. The timing on seeing this is great. I've been helping a friend build a 15'x25' deck the past couple of weeks and a few times ended the day at the work site counting my fingers up to ten and then saying to my friend - "It's been a good day".
  17. Considering how crazy the economy has been this past year, that is not a bad price.
  18. Roger that!
  19. It doesn't matter where you are from - when it comes to scroll sawing - this is the place to be. Welcome!
  20. Well done and informative. I learned lots more than I thought I knew. Thanks for your continued support.
  21. Aw!
    Thanks Travis.
It's true what they say . . . Time does go by faster.😀

  22. I'd guess 98% of everything I've cut has been using Baltic Birch - mostly 1/4" with 1/8" second runner up and the rest 1/2". And about 98% of the patterns have been Steve Good patterns (thanks Steve). The wood has a uniform color. Cut easily, takes stain and finishes well. Is locally available in various sizes, compared to hardwood. The quality is better than other plywood available at the box stores (HD/Lowes). That's my 2 pennies worth.
  23. The First State welcomes you as well. You're going to love it hear.
