  1. Welcome aboard! You'll like it here.
  2. Hmmm . . . Not the same noise mine was making when I joined the group a couple years ago. Replacing the connecting rod solved my problem. Here's a thought - if you are confident the bearings/sleeves are good and adjusting the tension rod isn't making a significant difference, perhaps the problem is farther back. I'm thinking the motor shaft itself that connects to the connecting rod. Only other thought that comes to mind is perhaps the long (upper and lower) horizontal rods might be bent. Good luck with it. If it cuts OK, and I say this with tongue in cheek, the solution is hearing protection.
  3. I've had a Pegas now, ordered thru Denny, since August of this year. Put a review of it in the review section after using it for several hours. And have given it a good workout since then. No issues for me at this time.
  4. I've seen a "sandbox" article as well, but opted to use two layers of 1 1/4" thick boards, giving me a 2 1/2" base with a layer of thick carpet between the board and the scroll saw. No problems with vibration.
  5. welcome from dover delaware. great place !
  6. Welcome to the Village from Dover, Delaware.
  7. When I made my scroll saw stand (wood 4x4 legs) I put retractable casters on it like the ones below from Amazon. It allows me to move it around and then lower stand legs to go directly on the floor. Pleased with it - not too expensive and easy to install them. Ronlap Workbench Casters Kit 880 Lbs Capacity, 3" Extra Heavy Duty Retractable Casters 4 Pack, Side Mounted Adjustable Table Stepdown Casters
  8. Welcome from Delaware - Me thinks you will be showing us a few things
  9. Welcome from Delaware - it's a nice place here.
  10. Time to hang a museum sign outside and charge admission Really nice works!
  11. Amen to the above. Last time I did any cutting I switched from hardwood to cutting ply. Was surprised how the blade dulled quicker but then remembered reading a post from when I first started cutting about how the glue in plywood dulls blades.
  12. I will say I recently did get some hearing protection for when I scrolling. My normal tinnitus was starting to take on a different tone. So I figured "here's your sign" and now I wear them when scrolling/mowing the yard and such.
  13. That is what I'm doing as well. Works for me.
  14. Looking Good! I like the "I PEDAL" one and your variation of making it one piece instead of having a separate base for the bicycle to rest on.
  15. Looking good! I had an inquiry this past summer for a bass fish pattern. Did you make this one or is it available online?
  16. I got that airbrush kit about a month ago and used it once to paint acrylic on a bud vase. Was happy with the results. Last week, I got an order for this pattern, but to be finished with amber shellac, based on another pattern of a fish I had cut out and finished with amber shellac. Sooooo . . . used a brush on the cutout horse pattern and didn't like it. The brush marks were showing. So . . . I used amber shellac thinned with Denatured Alcohol. Ratio was something like 3 to one shellac to alcohol. I sprayed each side lightly about 8 times. I like the results, given the first time I've sprayed with shellac. Will experiment more, as I would like to achieve a glass like finish, if possible.
  17. Ditto for me. Cost-wise, I think the sheets are less expensive compared to paper & adhesive spray. Or if not, close enough to be worth it when you factor in the time it takes to use/apply them to the wood. My 2 pennies worth.
  18. Yep - that's a winner!
  19. That comment takes me back to when I first used a nail gun instead of a hammer for trim work. Wow! There is a satisfaction for many of being able to use non-powered tools to make things in the old ways, but for efficiency the right makes a world of difference.
  20. Welcome from Dover, Delaware. You are sure to pick up some useful info here - great place!
  21. Trouble shooting 101 - Good suggestion! I'll try to remember it if this ever happens to me.
  22. interesting and thanks for the post. I got a Pegas a few months ago and at some point not long after saw a post about putting a piece of tape on the back knob and taping it to the arm to keep the knob from moving. I've done that and so far, no problem. No sign of the tape stretching or being pulled loose. But I'll keep looking out for what you are describing. Overall, very happy with the Pegas thus far - and I've put several hours on it - and look forward to many more.
  23. Ah yes, another blast from the past. He had a knack for suspense!
