Just read the tutorial. Thanks for the suggestion. I will glue on the backer first. Then make sure the seal from each circle to backer. Maybe spray clear coat spray so wood is not going from bubble layer. I will do the smaller circles first. If stuff goes wrong, I can easily cut smaller failure out. I chose the polyester resin which can be tricky to figure out how many drops of catalyst to use. My wood is 3/8", so the instructions say do resin in layers. Oh more ways to screw it up.

Looks pretty good. The curves in the fingers are NOT jagged. The forearm curves and hair are also smooth. This a really nice project.

My goal is to create a plaque that 1)holds and protects an 8 inch silicon wafer. It is like a thin sheet of glass. 2) Has Co-workers name with a title of Technical Product Lead "TPL". project in work... All wood shown is Myrtle also known as pepper wood. Our project name has "pepper" in its name. 2 pics shows the un-stained full concept. Notice top portion of pic shows the pattern and concept. Kinda a saturn ring the label TPL. Yes this is a play on letters "JPL". 2 moons symbolize his two Jr engineers. When this guy holds his weekly meetings he has a calming effect of the whole team. He really deserves recognition. His background on his computer shows space pictures. next 2 pics shows stained plaque and contrast of his name letters. I will be pouring polyester resin over the whole 8 inch wafer. Also the moons will have cut wafer material cover with resin. My last progress was Dec 18th. I got an unwanted b-day present that paused my progress. I like the font choice but when choosing a font, I forgot to think about angle cuts. See last picture. This small thin piece of wood was a concern but overall it came out great. Need to make BB plywood backer, glue letters in, seal and finish boards. Then add wafer material and pour polyester resin. If there is any cool things I can do before finishing it I would love ideas.

my 26" hawk fit into my prius. But I had to remove the legs. Careful with the cord. The frame may cut or damage the cord. I stuck something under the frame so the cord was not under pressure.

My opinion... get it. This picture looks a bit better than the used one I picked up a few years ago 2020. I paid $400. I am the 3rd owner. I have had no issues with this saw at all. My table has some deep scratches from other metal propably being dropped. The one your looking at the boot to blow air looks really black maybe it has been replaced or just cleaned. It also has the lockline already installed mine did not. Definitely ask for all parts. The bottom clamps cost $25. I bought spares the year. Me. Mark Eason

yep my cabinent has lots -o- stuff. top shelf: skillsaw , spotting scope , fishing box is a jewelry tool box, and the travel tool bag is equipped with mostly electrical fix it tools. next shelf down: electronic components. including fasteners next shelf: miter saw. bottom shelf: Microscope and other heavy stuff.

My brother owns a guitar parts store so I'm going to check with him to see if he has any of them...... Most potentiometers for audio equipment are non-linear.

A test technician has made great progress. So I made him a appreciation award with his name "Sang". His progress was to make the waveform shown 1000 times faster than it was done for the past 5 years. This waveform is used over 600 times during his full test suite. So it made a big impact on time. I put some IC die (chips) in polyester resin pour. The chips came from the same project that he excelled at. Wood is Myrtle. Me. Mark Eason

I try really hard to think / make something a laser or a cnc machine can Not do. My wearable cowboy hats, laser cutters can not cut 3/4" wood. Especially at at a 9 deg angle in a oval. The cnc can but takes multiple boards or a big chunk of wood. My inspiration was youtube lathe videos showing a cowboy hat. They start with a 100lb stump. I just start with a 3/4" board and (3) 1/8" thick strips of 18" x 2ft long. I try to make stuff the new machine can't. So my hats are all hand scrolled. 20 hours of work. Bowls also fall into this category. But lathes do bowls very well. Is scrollsaw bowls competing with lathes? Before thinking of hats I made a hollow nfl football. just 2 bowls glued together. Lathes can do this also. But most wood workers have solid wood footballs. Functional scrollsaw projects are a challenge to compete with new fancy tools. That is why I like scrollsawing hard projects. It shows fancy tools can't do everything yet. I have wore my hats for over a year and a half. I get a lot of questions about selling my hats. But no one actually hired me yet. So I answered my own question ... no competition. But the product is so unique and really non functional, read that as not safe to wear. So I don't really expect to sell any. One guy, a wood worker, asked me about the wood pattern leather hat. He got a kick that it was actual wood. Inlays using cnc are a way different technique. I feel scrollsaw is easier than cnc. Intarsia is also hard. So using a cnc for intarsia might be a bit easier getting perfect fit and carved to show depth. But still difficult with either tool. Sorry for the long post. It would be cool to have a lot us build something. Even I would get my lazy butt to help. We could mail our pieces to someone for the final assembly. Another thought is to make a bunch of somethings to help out an event or specific charity. We can make a catch phrase... "scrollers for peaces", (play on words (peices). Say no to "fyntanal", say yes for scollersaws. (bad example) Our Boxes, Bowls, baskets, or toys could sent somewhere with "complements of "scrollsaw village". @Travis Kinda like Toys for tots concept. I can imagine all these 3d reindeer showing up somewhere.

Nice article. It got me to appreciate the hobby a bit more. But as I read history I always ask questions? How did the clocks work? Winding or gravity? Did he re-sharpen the blades? If not Who supplied the blades? A steady supply was needed.
