  1. Both vases are cool. The dark 2 tone vase is pleasant to the eyes. But the curve sun flower has nice style.
  2. Definitely gives the appearance of ice and frost. Nice choice of material.
  3. very nice bunch you have. The Tasmania myrtle looks like dark chocolate. Me. Mark Eason
  4. Very cool. I love the blue water splashes a drops. Looks awesome. Now an interesting question, Is the daughter also save the forest? Will she care that this is made from wood? If there a chance that your customer looks at this post just let me know I will promptly edit and remove this question. Me. just asking dumb questions again.
  5. Another bottle opener. This one has a silicon wafer inside a clear cavity. This is made from a beautiful piece of myrtle. I tried to have the grain show liquid pouring action. Me. Mark Eason
  6. https://www.languagehumanities.org/what-is-differance.htm
  7. I would try to remove the mistake if you can. Covering it up is okay also. Putting that whole piece under the saw would be a big concern.
  8. Remove and replace his name with a square piece of different wood. This kinda hi-lites his name with different background. A cloud shape instead of square would be harder and space is probably limited. But it would show that the jet going above the clouds. I don't think there is enough space. This separate wood piece also allows his name to be inlaid or embossed (relief). This next idea is to place dates of service in line with his name. This gives you a bigger font to play with. But it needs client to approval. Non standard formats are hard to change. Wow I just noticed your bottom frame adds a sun reflection to the ocean. Adds to the overall picture. That is so cool.
  9. Oh crap.... please share your thoughts and final method. I have some thoughts but I don't want to influence your artistic view point. Ok I want to learn from you.
  10. Super nice. I love the 3D of the jet and how well you did the lettering in different wood. What size is this?
  11. thanks Frank, I never used a variable speed drill press before. I viewed the exploded diagram and kinda understood the lever was expanding some diameter of a pulley. So I was very hesitant to try anything. Me. Mark Eason
  12. I did not like table crank either. Crank it down and nothing happens, then all of a sudden it drops like 4 teeth worth. If I lift up front of table to take weight off, it cranks down smoother. For main stem tube, the directions say remove oil and apply wax. What kind of wax did you guys use? Oh yea the speed handle is pretty stiff. Is there a way to make it less tight?
  13. so this is the wood dust overseer spirit. Setting next to the dust collector.
  14. I like it too. Nice fitting and contours especially on the eyes. Thumbs up.
  15. Me. Too Me. Mark Eason
  16. my order came in today. This WEN is 20x better than my old 24yr old small craftsmen.
  17. Nice warhogs , of course bottom is my favorite. Beautiful work. I hope the variety of your fleet brings repeat customers. The sound the gun makes is so loud. Brrrrrrrrrrr. Me. Matk Eason
  18. oh yea, my old craftsman does not have a crank. So only the column can be cut. My bench is bolted to the wall. My old craftsman would almost fit on my bench. I could have cut it down to to fit. But decided not to put it on my bench. Old setup, New setup after 3 years.... working from home ok on the other side of garage is my cutting drilling station. My timeout out corner. I stash , ok put away, power sanding , cutoff saw , and power hand tools in cabinents and under the scroll saw. Power dust makers are used outdoors. The small drill press is in the corner. The WEN 4214T the top and the chuck will be about 10 inches higher.
  19. can you cut the main tube down?
  20. It turns out my 30yr old craftsman 1/3 hp 8" just broke. So it is time for a new one. So this post talked me into the Wen 4214T. maybe it will on reduced during Amazon Prime days. I see they have an accessory keyless chuck that goes down to a 1/64" drill.
  21. The outside cuts look pretty decent. Did you use a spiral blade for the sun faces? You can a #4 spiral in the lines that are on the edge to make them more pronounced. The wood grain on the top sun will kinda look like sun spots. But the bottom one might be more like jupiter's cloud bands. Me. Mark Eason
  22. Sorry no wood projects. But Travis says anything holloween goes. Chicken wire, White paint, and DJ lights. @Travis you can delete this if it is disqualified.
  23. Wow. That does look so nice. You are such an artist and craftsman. Such a huge master piece. Me. Mark Eason
  24. Absolutely. I dont do this for a job. Time is not a factor. A 20 hour project. Is just as satisfiying as a 1.5hour project. But I personally get a kick from projects that get used. So a 1hr can opener might be better than 27 team tokens. But I wear my 20hr proj (hat) every time I leave my house. So that gives me the kick. My other hobby has nothing to make. Visually looking at space objects has nothing to deliver. A 3hour session is enjoyable. Having 3 million old photons go to your eyeballs for enjoyment purposes only. It took me a awhile to understand that. But the thought of space stuff is so cool. Neptune has only gone around the sun once since we invented telescopes.
  25. Arrowheads always catch my attention. Take those and glue other projects. Make cabinent handles maybe. I tried to get a customer to have an arrowhead on my 3rd hat. But he decided no.
